Agreed. Sometimes they still deliver, but not this time. No analysis whatsoever, purely an opinion piece, not something you usually see on CHFF.

True. I also think that as long as Robert Kraft owns the team we'll have a pretty good chance. They've only been bad a few times since he bought the team so he's obviously doing something right.

Well if you look at those teams, they all had either one or two things in common.

1. major changes in ownership/FO
2. aging cornerstone players of the franchise that no longer produced at previous levels

Miami, Pitt and Dallas (Landry) had age and didnt replenish the roster.

Rams (Charlie Armey left the FO), Dallas (JJ) left, 49ers (Eddie D decided to play riverboat gambler, Browns (Brown got dumped) and Packers (VL split).

As for the Raiders, ownership got senile.

For the Pats, I agree, as long as BB and the Krafts continue to work as a team, manage the cap and replenish the roster (including Brady when he starts to slip), they should continue to compete for championships.

The only way to put a "no" answer to the topical question is for the Pats win the damn SB.

In truth, an argument could be made that the dynasty ended in the 2005 Divisional round at Denver. The Pats haven't won a title since.

OTOH, you can compare the Pats dynasty to the Niners of 1981-1998. That was an extended period of greatness dotted with some disappointing seasons. However, the Pats need to win at least one more SB to justify that comparison.

Completely agree... time is a factor. If the SB isn't won in the next two years, a new dynasty needs to start up. Who'll be left ? Is it still considered a dynasty if only BB & TFB are left the next time they win it all ?

Ex : lets say the next time they win is when Brady is 37 years old... that can't really be considered part of the "dynasty" can it ? That wouls mean a whole bunch of players would've come and gone without a ring (between 04 and the next one).

All dynasties come to an end. Some renew themselves and persevere longer than others, though. I suspect this one, as long as Belichick is here, will continue to renew itself.

Already there are but a handfull of players who were on the 2005 Super Bowl club. I count just 7 significant players left on Offense and 4 on Defense.

Just like the 2005 club had only a handful of the 2001 Super Bowl club. Belichick doesn't stand pat. He turns over the Team roster regularly. I exspect this team to be as strong as any of the 21st century.

I have posted on the forums there for some time, and its fair to say they have a few bitter people with anti-Patriot issues who constantly whine about the allegedly pro-Patriots flavor to alot of the articles.

This is probably a half-assed attempt to pacify the weakminded few.

I thought that, while the main thrust of the article (the Patriots floundering dynasty) was flawed the analysis of the history of other dynastic greats was a good read.
