Dolphins | Not commenting on any potential Vick interest
Sat, 11 Jul 2009 05:30:44 -0700
Mike Berardino, of the South Florida SunSentinel, reports when Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland was asked his response to former NFL head coach Dennis Green's recent prediction that free-agent QB Michael Vick (Falcons) would end up with the team, he just smiled and offered no comment. "No comment on that," Ireland said. "That's not my deal." Green credited the "creativity" of vice president Bill Parcells as his primary reason for predicting Vick would land with the team. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is already on record saying he believes Vick deserves a second chance to play in the NFL.

That's his most probable destination unless something changes.

Like if he can still run a sub 4.4 forty and excite Al Davis.

Would he become an option qb the pros? Hmm.

Hopefully from being overexcited, Vick's record against a Belichick defense isn't the greatest and BB would have to be forgiven for rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect.

Puke or celebrate ? I think the Pats, over the years, have been burned by Pennington WAY more than Vick.

On a somewhat related matter, what is the obsession with dog killers ? No one seems to be protesting over human killers (Stallworth). Maybe it's just because I hate domestic animals, but something seems wrong when Vick is so maligned and others get by...

Agree on Pennington being tougher than Vick.

Understand your instinct re: dog-killers v. human killers, but for me the difference is INTENT. Yes, drunk driving is awful and, in a sense, you make a "choice" but it's not the same thing. Michael Vick is a masochistic scumbag who killed and tortured dogs ON PURPOSE with no remorse whatsoever. Donte Stallworth is reprehensibly reckless, who killed a wayward pedestrian by accident and who has displayed uncommon remorse. That difference, in my view, makes all the difference in the world.

There are many in the NFL who have assaulted and killed people. Vick had Rotwilers fight for sport and killed the weak and losers. Would we feel the same if he supported ****fighting? Why not?

Vick deserves the same second chance that have been given to many other thugs.

With regard to team, Miami is a natural home for Vick.

I agree that Stallworth is NOT a good comparison. Those who beat their girlfriends or wives IS a good comparison.

................. :agree:

What makes people think he can still play. Vicks was in the slammer all of last season, if the guy is supposedly broke whose he been training with to get back into shape.

I'm in the camp that Vick should be able to play considering Leonard Little got drunk, killed a mother in a DUI, and was so remorseful and had so learned his lesson that he turned around and got another DUI a couple years later, yet he still has earned millions thank to the NFL.

But I'm not sure "many in the NFL have assaulted and killed people." ???

Little's the only one I can think of.

Not to mention Matt Schaub. I think it was in 2005 when we almost lost to Atlanta when that guy was playing.

The pats have no problem with stopping a pre-prison vick. Now he doesn't have a prayer. i welcome him.

if Vick is there to be QB1 than thats ok by me but what I don't like about this is he makes for an interesting addition to their gimmicks and would certainly be one of the best QB2s in the league with the only exception to this being a good 2 is the vast contrast in play styles between Chad and Vick.

Why are some people saying the Patriots have had no problem stopping Vick in the past. He's barely ever played against the Patriots. The last time the Pats played Atlanta was in 2005, and Schaub played that entire game. The other time was in 2001. Vick came in late for Chris Chandler. He attempted 9 passes and had 50 rushing yards. I hate Vick, but it's not like he's ever seen much action against the Patriots.

PLEASE make this happen. Football is entertainment. Rivalries are the spice. Make it so!

He would be a great signing for Miami. They could get him pretty cheap as there are very few if any interested in signing him.

I don't want to see it happen though, they are competitive enough as it is.

I'm always a little skeptical of anyone who hates or is willfully cruel to domestic or wild animals. As well as those who can't differentiate intent. Or criminality. Or malicious cruelty.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. Mahatma Gandhi

If Vick joins the Fins, I think he'd be more deadly as a RB who could throw than as the QB under center. Keep Pennington at QB, and then have Vick and/or Brown in the backfield.

What was the point of drafting Pat White if they are just gonna go after Vick...this will never actually happen...

Agree on all accounts. While what Vick did was despicable, largely because it was so deliberate and organized, he's still a guy that deserves a second chance IMO. I don't even think I'll root against him, specifically, once he's back. If anything, I hope he's learned from his mistakes and turns his life around.
