I saw this in another fan forum and thought it was an interesting thread so here it is....

NAME 5 PLAYERS (5 PLAYERS ONLY) PLUS YOU CAN ADD A RUNNER-UP IF YOU WISH

The 5 guys I would want on this team are as follows....

DeMarcus Ware OLB Cowboys - This is the type of strong fast and agile OLB with enourmous ability that this team would turn into a sure fire HOFer if he isn't heading that way already and I think this 3-4 would be a great fit for him to be in.

Nnamdi Asomugha CB Raiders - Nnamdi is the younger version of Champ Bailey only he is better,He covers an opponent better than a king sized blanket on a cold winter's night,No longer would you have to worry constantly about pass rushers on this team when you are in good hands in the backfield in case the QB has time to throw.

Adrian Peterson RB Vikings - I knew this kid was the pick of the draft 2 years ago and look for him to break all sorts of records at RB in the next 10 years - If only Brady had talent like this behind him he wouldn't worry about passing so often.

Larry Fitzgerald WR Cardinals - Arguably the best WR in the game today,Imagine him across from Moss with Welker in the slot and you would have to give opposing teams a 21 point head start before the game began to make it fair.

Mario Williams DE Texans - Ever heard the saying 'He who laughs last laughs best?',well that goes for this team and their selection in the 2006 draft when everyone called their FO idiots for passing on Reggie Bush and especially the slow start Mario had to his career - Now 3 years later and 30 sacks in the books, this selection was probably the best ever in the Texans draft history and he would be an excellent replacement if Seymour was to leave as expected.

Runner Up .... Troy Polamalu S Steelers - No one circles the field better and making tackles from all over than Troy and that includes Ed Reed, this type of safety would be only one of two that would make me forget not having Rodney around anymore at this position even though Polamalu isn't as heavy a hitter as #37 was.

Whats your 5?

#1 Ed Reed
#2 WR Fitzgerald
#3 Demarcus Ware
#4 LB Harrison
#5 WR André Johnson

I want game changers - people the other team needs to plan around. I want a team full of Moss !

1. Peyton Manning (as backup)
2. Larry Fitzgerald
3. Jake Long
4. DeMarcus Ware
5. Ed Reed

1. Ware OLB
2. Suggs OLB
3. Asomugha CB
4. Reed S
5. Andre Johnson WR

While Ed Reed is an awesome Safety,I still think he is second best as I give the SLIGHT edge to Palomalu because of Troy's presence all over the field much like a Bob Sanders, but thats an argument that you could say could go 50/50 - Reed is better in man to man coverage while I think Troy covers well AND tackles out of nowhere from just about anywhere on the field.

I should have given Brian Urlacher some credit too because despite only an average campaign in 2008 he is the best ILB in the game IMO today when he is healthy, bar none.

Ed Reed
DeMarcus Ware
Terrell Suggs
Ryan Clady
Jon Beason. Maybe Karlos Dansby? I dunno, that's a tough one, but I'd love to see another versatile ILB opposite Mayo. Maybe Nmandi, though I like our CBs more than our LBs.

There's a lot of offensive talent out there that would make us unstoppable, like Larry Fitzgerald or even Jason Witten or something to that effect, but we don't really need a whole lot more offense IMO. Going back to the original point, which is basically who would benefit the team the most, IMO the more that any one guy could improve us would be by making gamechanging plays on D.

Sort of, but with additional consideration for what needs the Patriots have and the team's system.

It could be and is not much of a difference other than the fact that there are so many non Patriot players that would be a great addition here, its hard to narrow it down and everyone will be different in their response at least with a player or two.

Like FTW said,It would be players you think would fit best here - Julius Peppers is an example of a great player but not sure if he is a 3-4 caliber type athlete.

5.) Nnamdi Asomugha

Make the best defense ever.

A little, but surely if it was, more people would have selected a QB. Its more top 5 players in positions that could be improved.

Not really. Because people will pick players who fit the Pats' system and a need. I wouldn't want Peyton Manning on the Pats with Brady and I would put him on the top 5 top non-Pats in the league.

In no particular order:

- Troy Polamalu
- Demarcus Ware
- Julius Peppers (yeah, I said it:rolleyes:)
- Adrian Peterson/Maurice Jones-Drew (either would do)
- Nnambi Asomugha/Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

This list is comprised of people that I just thought of off the top of my head. No real examination was done when I put the names down. There are quite a few other players that I really like and could have easily made this team had I thought of them. As I type this, Revis comes to mind. Ed Reed, Brandon Jacobs, and Terrell Suggs also come to mind.

I remember thinking a few years ago how I wouldn't mind having Leigh Bodden on the Patriots and here he is . . .;)

Wow, I didn't even see this when I compiled my list, but it's pretty much the same.lol

Except the 2 players different on each list ;)

To be honest and some may think I am crazy, but Drew Brees would be my pick over P. Manning at this point - He is much younger and can light up the scoreboard with receivers like we have.

Drew Brees - (This of course if Brady was not there)
Jason Witten
Troy Polumalu
Nnamdi Asomugha
Albert Haynesworth

Am I the only one surprised that Jason Witten has shown up on two of these lists? I mean, nice player, but one of the top 5 sought-after guys in the league??

Patrick Willis
Demarcus Ware
Adrian Peterson
Shaq or Lebron James(Tight End)
Eugene Chung
