Nice article. He might have been the toughest player I've ever seen, maybe even to the detriment of his overall career/health. It was just crazy the kind of injuries that he would play through year after year.

I have to disagree with McNair's so called legacy of toughness. McNair to me was a guy who was ALWAYS hurt or had some issue. There are other QB's who have played in the NFL who have taken worse shots than him and have played just as long as him. If you keep putting it out there about the injuries, then the press so going to run with it.

I seen Aikman and Young take some knock out hits and you don't see the same title of being tough linked to their names because they didn't use it as a crutch.

The guy who could use the injury crutch should be Eddie George. He was the guy who took the punishment for that team.

Good article Chris. McNair was one of those QBs in the 90's that paved the way for other African-American/Black QBs in the future. He is a tough warrior. I say that he should go to the HOF. IMO, I think Kazemi killed McNair and then took it out on herself. Maybe not true, but could be. That woman and her previous DUI arrest or whatever (I may be wrong) gave me a forewarning of what was gonna unfold. McNair's wife knew his husband wouldn't and shouldn't have made a mistake like that by spending time with another uncivilized woman. REST IN PEACE MCNAIR. My deepest condolences to the NFL, the Titans and the Ravens organizations, and McNair's family.

Both Mcnair, and George took a beating. Maybe we werent watching the same games

McNair went an entire season without practicing because he was in so much pain. Come sunday, he was on the field. He never used it as an excuse. He was a tough s.o.b.

True, when you get murdered generally that does tend to end up being what people remember first. I assumed we were talking about his football legacy, though.

Nice article Chris, I'd say leadership was also a big part of his legacy. He seemed like he was always there as you say in your article even when injured he would be on the sideline and telling the other guys to bring it.

He was a fantastic scrambler, so exciting to watch.

It really did hit me when I heard the news. I mean we had a lot of famous people die in the last short while but for some reason Steve McNair's death got to me. I guess it was the fact that I seen him as a fighter and a comeback guy and you just don't expect a man who was like that to lose his life that way.

Speaking strictly football (there's another thread in the political forum for "other") the guy was a warrior. LOL, concerning Aikman. I lived in Dallas during the Aikman years, and he did take some hits, but he is not even close to being in the McNair category of pain management.
Remember the Pats had to play back to back games against the co-MVP's? The Pats won because of their greatness, not for any lack of effort by McNair.

Not sure what your bias against Brady is. So its tougher to run? No wrong Its tougher to stay in that pocket and get hit throwing not scrambling and running out of bounds. Bradys tough like Lee Van Cleef. He doesnt have to constantly tell you hes a bad ass. Brady has hid more injuries than Mcnair ever really had. That is an ESPN creation.
