I am not a huge Wallace fan but I think he will really improve the Celts in a couple of ways....

1) Having Perkins in the game is only for a low post presence with no outside shot. Rasheed can help move guys away from the basket giving K Perkins more room to operate or can shoot the ball himself.
2) He is a big body that can play good defense and help on people like shaq or Howard when or if perkins is in foul trouble and it keeps KG or Big baby from trying to guard them.
3) Yes he gets a ton of technicals but he hates to lose and knows what it takes to win championships and will bring that hate to lose attitude with him.
4) He is a Hell of a lot better than Mikki Moore.

With house coming back all we need is a backup pg and I think we are set. I would love to have stephon back and maybe signing sheed will make him take less money but for right now he doesn't want the veterans min. to play and that's all they can offer.

There are reports tonight of them talking with Grant Hill...that the kind of backup PG you are thinking of?

Grant Hill, what are they trying to do put the All Griatric team together.

He played guard before, he's listed as a shooting guard/small forward on multiple sites.

When he still had ankles back in his prime he ran the offense as a point forward. That was a LONG LONG time ago.

Could be just the opposite... seems like they are looking to keep everyone fresh during the game, giving everyone all the breaks they need to pour it on at the end of the game.

That's assuming everyone's healthy of course but they might not miss a beat as one might argue that Wallace is able to play about 4 positions - and do it very well.

Rasheed could be like the 1980's Bill Walton addition to the Big Three.

Good call. Don't get me wrong, Sheed is not my favorite player, now that he's wearing green I'm a fan, but I'm think this move is huge for a number of reasons:

- Big insurance for injuries to Perk or KG
- Perk is great, but prone to foul trouble
- In the past few seasons, when Perk comes off the court - particularly w/o KG - the team has to go small, and they have run into struggles in that situation.
- Less minutes for KG means a healthier KG down the stretch
- A lineup w Rasheed at the 5 and KG at the 4 can really, really spread the floor. Rondo's penetration would cause a nightmare for other teams w Rasheed and KG drawing the opposing bigs to the perimeter b/c they can both shoot from 15 feet and out, Sheed has even greater range.
- On the other hand, Sheed has some post moves, too, so he can be a factor downlow, especially on the 2nd unit.
- Which leads to the last point - having Sheed be that anchor of the 2nd unit will greatly improve both the offense and defense of that unit.

That’s the key right there, finally a person that is an equal or improved sub for when Perk is in foul trouble

Right - and no disrespect to Big Baby or any of the other guys who did some big things off the bench, but having undersized PFs as backup centers leaves the Celts looking at some difficult matchups

And no offense to Perkins, but having Wallace out there is really going to give teams a challenging time in terms of matchups. Wallace can still move quite well - it will be interesting to see how Shaq covers him.

So you've got a situation where Wallace is actually interchangable with KG, Pierce and Perkins at any time - and heck, there'd really be nothing wrong to having him give Allen a break.

But even if he's filling in for Perkins, you've got on the court

Garnett
Pierce
Allen
Wallace and
Rondo

That's not too shabby -

One player does not put a team over the top but COLLECTIVELY with the other guys already on board ... Rasheed is going to help!

According to Stephen A. Smith the Celts are favored to win it all.

He might be getting old and is a hothead, but he makes his team better. For a big man, he can shoot three's and hit pullup jumpers all day long. I think its a good move by the Celtics to bring on Sheed.

We've seen there's regular season Sheed and playoffs Sheed.

Regular season Sheed doesn't hustle, doesn't play great defense, chucks as many 3s as he can, and loses games with his technicals.

Playoffs Sheed hustles, plays crafty defense, hesitates to take 3s if he isn't shooting a high percentage, and has overall better composure.

Was big in game 2 & 6 against the Cavs.

I know high school was the best ten years of you life and all, but in the post by you I referenced, you were debating yourself on the merits of bringing Wallace here.

Let's recap; first you said "He's a hothead who can't keep his composure during games."

Ok then, you don't want him.

But, they you said "He has one of the smartest basketball IQ's in the league and one doesn't find too many players with skillset."

Ok, so now you do want him.

THEN you said "He's insurance against another injury to KG."

SO, sounds like you definately want the guy here.

All I asked was do you or don't you want him here?

Why get your batman huggies all in a twist over a simple question?

And, I'll close with saying you are the king of worthless garbage posts with zero substance.

And substance is something you know plenty about.

Substance abuse that is.

Carry on you douchebag.

Posts like this are the reason why I wish Double G was still posting regularly. This was absolutely epic.
