Wake is now 9-3 after tonight.

Why not ...

Seriously Youk, Bay, Pedroia and Wake from the Sox seems very fair.

Re: Wakefield the All-Star

I'd like to see it. Times like this everyone gets on the Wake bandwagon, but too many times you read posts where they want joeblow to replace him. He could go 11-9 for the year and he'd still be incredibly valuable (more then his record). The guy EATS UP innings.

Wake has almost no shot at all of being an All-Star.

Why? Let's say he wins the rest of his starts before the break. Currently, no one else has more wins then he does. He wouldn't start by any means, but if he's leading the league with wins, why not?

Wake is one of my favorite all time Red Sox players; never forget the look on the guys face after giving up the game/series winning home run to the immortal Aaron Boone vs the look on his face the following year when the won the whole thing.

He has taken one for the team on many occasions, I thought he might have been done with a bad back afew years ago, nice to see him rolling along and cannot wait till he passes Clemens in total wins in a Red Sox uniform................class act.

Because judging a pitcher just on wins is worthless. Look at the types of years pitchers are having in the AL and Wake isn't among the top 10.

Hes not leading the league in wins, Halladay does.. Halladay is also still scheduled to make his next start on saturday so if hes fine he will lead the league in wins still at the all-star break... hes just too nasty to stop winning if hes not injured... i do want to see wake in the all-star game though, too many times he gets overlooked.. he is so valuable to the sox each and every year with his versitality.. he can start one day and come in a game and eat up innings 2 days later if we are getting blown out.. It would be nice to see him get some appriciation and get into the allstar game..

He's got my vote!

You jinxed him.
What I said was, nobody has more wins then him, and if he wins he rest of his starts before the break. Injuries are a part of the game.

Wake made it!

There are guys out there having better seasons but it's nice to see they picked him to finally get to his first ASG.

I don't think it's recognition...I think it's reality. He's a hell of a pitcher who deserved to be there but he is also rubber armed and Madden knows that if he selected him and made him pitch three, four, five innings he would bounce back and still be great.

Congratulations to the Red Sox for having the most All-Stars in the league, with 6.

Dustin, Wake, Beck, Pap, Bay & Youk as a reserve.

Stuff the other 5... well done Wake! :D

First he passes Roger Clemens on the team's all time games pitched list, now this. Great week for Wakefield.

Next year we should see him breaking the all time innings pitched record and the all time wins record. He has an outside shot at breaking the all time games pitched record, needs another four years for that though. The only longevity records he won't have is complete games, shut outs or strike outs.

Ausbacker.... we finally agree on something !

I am delighted to hear that Wake made the Allstar team.

Well done !

Joe Maddon was just interviewed during the Tampa Bay-Texas game on tv and reading between the lines he essentially said there was no way that he was going to let Wake not be an all-star this year.

Classy move, and congrats to Wake.

Yes ... classy move by Maddon ... Francona has always thrown major respect his way.

I think it's more of a "cover your butt" move by him...either he selected him or he hears the criticism for a few days then sees the fans vote him in. He chose to look good by selecting Wakefield than be the goat of the nation.
