Bills Fans are Delusional

Maybe because almost every preseason pro football annual is picking the Patriots to win the Super Bowl this year. At least we have a basis for our hopes.

What do you guys got, Edwards, TO, and Jauron? Good luck with that.

I bet they picked them last year as well. Tell me, what exactly happened last year? If a magazine told you to jump off a bridge, would you?

Every franchise has play makers that help the team win. We added some players to help get us to the playoffs. At least that would be a victory for our franchise. Anything less than a SB win for the Pats, is a huge disappointment. Good luck with that.

Yeah but guy, every team runs the risk of injury. Let's talk reality here. If both the Pats and the Bills keep every starter all season, which team stands the better chance of reaching the Super Bowl?

Whoever wants it more. Reality is, everyone is 0-0 right now. It just takes one game plan to take Belichick off his game. I mean, look at the Dolphins last year and the wildcheat offense. Why not the Bills this year? I admit the Pats are good, I'm just saying that proclaiming a SB win for the Pats when they haven't played a down let alone been to training camp, is ridiculous. Let's play some football first before we proclaim anything.

You say this as the Bills Boards are filled with talk of going 12-4 and how their season opener is a sure win over the Patriots.

Maybe you should be preaching this to your fellow Bills fans.

Meh, I highly doubt 12-4. We have a tough schedule. If we get into the playoffs, I'll be happy. The first step is beating the Pats. I just think they're not as unbeatable as you guys make them out to be, that's all.

I make more money betting against the Bills than I would if I bet for them.

I'll be honest with you. I didn't give the Bills much of a chance even with TO until I saw him competing in one of those stupid reality competition shows for celebrities. After seeing TO make an ***** out of himself and have a runway model call him a "b!+ch", then I really started getting worried of how much offense he's going to bring to the Bills this year and how BB will never be able to plan coverage for him no matter how hard he tries.

Perhaps I am being a delusional homer myself, but I do feel patsfans.com does have a larger percentage of people who comment that fall between those two extremes than most other sites, making it worthwhile to come here for a visit and see what others have to say. I'm not so naive as to believe it always has or always will be that way, but that's my perception relative to what is written on other fan forums.

I think it's because of where our most active posters are. On a lot of boards, the homers are the most vocal, and they become completely hostile to any opinion that's not "Our team is the Bestest!". Here, we've got a lot of active posters who are more moderate in approach, even with the success of this decade. When the Homers go nuts, the vocal moderates jump on them just as they jump on the trolls who show up, or the pessimists who panic after every incompletion.

I think that makes a big difference over time.

Comparing this board to others such as the Jests, Bills and Colts i think the fans here are much more rational. There aren't close to as many delusional fans as are on the other boards mentioned. I don't think that if the Pats were in the position the Jests or Bill are in that many people here would be saying were going 16-0 or win the SB. I think most here would be predicting 8-8 or 9-7.

The latest delusion on the Bills Boards:

2009 Bills are just like the 1999 Rams and will win the Super Bowl.

LOL, you can not buy stuff this funny.

So does that mean they lose next year? To a team thats only had a handful of good seasons before it? Detroit?

Speaking of homers.....

If the Patriots went 7-9 for the last several seasons, had **** Jauron as a HC, and they signed TO, I would not be saying that they are going to win a SuperBowl.

The Patriots have a healthy Tom Brady back and every sports preseason pick has the Patriots win the AFC.

So if having all that to back me up, makes me a homer, so be it.

At least I post on the board of my team, not trolling like you.

You're right, but you are kind of being a homer when you say this place is different.

Look at all the threads here about going 16-0 again. This kind of stuff happens on every teams board, homers just don't notice it when it's their team because they agree.

And I think TO is so overrated it's not funny. The guy is 35 and he's just a cancer. I haven't actually looked at the Bills but the law of averages says they can't keep going 7-9 forever, right?

A couple, people, maybe, have talked about going 16-0 as a realistic possibility. Most of us acknowledge that the Patriots are likely to be favored in every game, so it could maybe happen, but it would require absurd amounts of luck, just like we had in 2007 (where we were lucky to pull out the Colts and Ravens games, in particular). 16-0 is still incredibly unlikely.

They're not unbeatable. They're just not going to get beaten by the Bills. Big difference. It's kind of like how my ass is not un-kickable, but I like my chances against any toddler.

Putting words in my mouth now? I didn't say anything about the Bills going to the Superbowl. I post on buffalobills.com as well. I just find the opinions from fans of another team a breath of fresh air.

No, what makes you a homer is the fact that you think the Pats are going to win a SB when they haven't even reported to mini-camp yet. You're a homer because you think that Tom Brady or any other important player on the team can't be hurt. You're a homer because you don't live in REALITY. The reality is, on any given Sunday, anything can happen. I would rather be a troll with a realistic outlook then a homer who thinks the QB of his favorite team comes from the planet Krypton.

One more thing, I would be happy if the Bills made the playoffs. As a matter of fact, I would be happy not making the playoffs and finishing with a 10-6 or 9-7 record.

Good way of putting it, lol. Let me ask you this though, because I can't think of one off the top of my head and besides the Colts with Harrison and Wayne, who has BB coached against that had the big play potential or game changing abilities like Lee Evans and T.O. have? Trent had no one to throw to last year because Evans was always double covered. Not only that but the TE we drafted, Shawn Nelson, is a huge target at 6'5 and has WR speed. Does your secondary have the skills to keep up with all that? Who do you guys have back there anyway?
