So even though I've decided to be responsible and reign in expenses this year, I still want to get one of the 50th anniversary jerseys. Question is, which player do I pick? To help me in this important decision, I am asking for suggestions from you, the loyal PatsFans.com member.

(Players listed in alphabetical order)

Brady - I really don't need another Brady jersey, as I already have three (1 silver and two different Pro Bowl ones). Then again, if there is anybody who epitomizes what this franchise represents, it's Tom.

Mayo - Truth be told I don't have many defensive players' jerseys, so that's a point for Mayo right there. And it could be argued that a tough, scrappy linebacker represents how the franchise is moving forward. But he's young yet and we don't really know where he's headed.

Moss - A Moss jersey would be nice, and it would be doubly irritating to Packer fans 'round these parts. Plus I like his attitude.

Welker - Like Brady, Welker was a good player who NE got for a relatively cheap price and then exploded into a great player. Had the Pats pulled it off in SB 42, Welker would have gotten my vote for MVP.

So who would YOU pick? (or who have you already picked, those of you who already own one of these jerseys.)

I'd have to say Brady, because he is the face of the franchise IMO.

If the franchise was a book, he would be the front cover.

Brady...but if you really dont want another Brady one then Mayo

Id pick Mayo, solid player out of good ole Tenn. Mentored under bruschi, sure he dont score TD's like Brady, Welker and Moss, but last year he proved to be what it takes to wear a NE uniform. IMO

Based on your Brady jersey inventory I say Mayo - You'll get 10-15 years of wear out of it and then you can wear it to his HOF induction.

Perfect.

Definately Grogan

A key is longevity. You dont want the player to be gone in 2-3 years. So I'd go Brady or Mayo. Maybe Welker also

I'd add to that rings...which is Brady all the way. There is no other ring bearing member of the 50th anniversary team I'd say is an absolute lock to be here past 2009...or be a starter here past 2010.

Why not Bruschi? Get them while you still can

I have Mayo's mainly because he has the longest contract of the 4 and there is a strong chance he will be with the team for a long time. You'll definitly get the most use out of Mayo.

I picked Brady. :)

Tonight I decided to go ahead and place my order for 50th anniversary gear so it was time to make up my mind. It had to be Tom. He means so much to this club, and in a way he's like the AFL. You know, the scrappy new kid/league on the block trying to prove himself behind the older, experienced, war-scarred veteran (i.e., Bledsoe/the NFL)... he was patient, toughed it out and in the end proved to be better than the "great one" who overshadowed him for a time.

'Cept Brady only needed to stay in the shadows one year, whereas the AFL needed a few.

It woulda really bugged my friend if I had got the Moss, though... :D

I picked Mayo since you get the most life out of the jersey. Welker was a close second.

I had a custom jersey made a couple years ago with PATRIOTS on the nameplate. That one will NEVER be obsolete.

Wait until they resign Willie McGinest and buy his, failing that buy Bruschi's. You won't get a chance to wear one of them for many more seasons.

Folks, folks, let me reiterate - the point was I wanted to buy one of the anniversary AFL style jerseys, and they only made those for the four players in the poll. Otherwise when it comes to throwback jerseys I prefer to buy those only for players who actually played in those colors - like Flutie, Tippett, Hannah, Grogan, Cappalletti, etc.
