You may be onto something with that and the back four can certainly gamble a little bit with the run stuffing ability and the pocket collapsing presence Albert Haynesworth offered, I think they should be able to find production from a cast of characters. Jason Jones was awesome as a rookie. Whether he kicks inside or stays at end is unknown, but he'll contribute. I think Jovan Haye and Sen'Derrick Marks can control the gaps a little bit on the inside too.

I do see a serious regress from them, man, I do. But I wouldn't blame it on their secondary. I have this missing the playoffs this year, though.

Agreed. The only players in the NFL I'm taking over DeMarcus Ware right now are Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady.
brees is way overrated

brees is way overrated

Nah, he basically has to carry that offense and he's done a great job of it. Granted Payton has him pass the ball like crazy but Brees is very similar to Brady, IMO.

offensively, besides the fact that brady is back, the pats have alot of TE depth and the addition of fred taylor which seems by design to offset what the ability for the giants to be as effective at what they did........if the pats had daniel graham in that SB, we'd have another ring........he ground down peppers and rucker, he'd have no problem grinding down tuck and helping with some push on the run.....we don''t have graham now, but baker and smith are both good blockers and need to be recognized in coverage.......

this year, lots of 2 TE sets with welker and moss outside could provide favorable numbers for the run

I would not be suprised to see watson see much more time as an H-back

NFL.com primetime prediction

Sorry folks if this was already posted. Also, I am not allowed yet to start a new thread...

on NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League, primetime is giving some predictions on a video. wait till the last few minutes (4th minute or so). He is very high on the Pats and their coach. Whatever it's worth.

Good find, I was just about to post Deion's comments:

Deion Sanders said:
This is not a no-brainer, this is not something that's going to boggle your mind by any means. The New England Patriots. You know why I say that? Because Brady's back first and foremost.

First of all, this is a team that won 11 games and didn't make it to the playoffs; only the second team to do that since 1970. But Brady's back, and not only is Brady back but it seems like this team gets better and better every offseason.

This team right now they're putting on the field this season is better than the Super Bowl winning team, better than the 16-0 undefeated team. Moss ... you got Joey Galloway on the other side? You can't double team Moss when Galloway can still fly.

Not only that, you've shored your backfield up, you've shored your receivers, your secondary ... come on man, this team's unbelievable. I'm excited for them.

Giants:enranged:

I don't know much, but I can assure you Bill Belichick won't loose to the Giants again in a Super Bowl - Call me a Homer or whatever you want - But I'd bet big money on that NOT happening.

Trivia question: How many times do you think Bill has watched that game? Ernie Adams?

I have no idea what the answer is, but I bet it's more than once. ;)

i can't call merriman the best olb in the nfl or close, till he proves he's healthy again

that's the same reason we haven't offered him a contract extension

show and prove....

as for cro, i'm hoping his problem was the bad hip, cause if he has another year like last year, he's looking at being gone probably.

Cro was awful last year, not just bad, awful. I never bought into the hype from that year where he had all those picks because I think playing corner is much more than just intercepting passes. But yeah, he does have the hip as an excuse, for now.

Merriman is only behind Ware at OLB in my opinion.

I picked up a copy of this preview earlier this week. I'll wade through it over the next few weeks.

My mini rant:

How does a Borders in Avon, CT get copies with Joe Flacco on the cover? I could understand if they had the NY cover, but the Baltimore region issue? I don't get it. I guess the only solace I can take is that some fans in Maryland are ticked off because they got the Brady cover.

No, he really is overrated. He puts up stats, then disappears when it matters the most. Also, he throws too many picks at the most random times.

Hmmm, both sides make compelling arguments. If only I could disagree with both of them...

well, you could take the position that he's just "overrated" and not "way overrated," thereby staking out a contrarian view that challenges both sides...
