Former Pats DE Kareem Brown is switching to TE

Yeah, I saw this a couple weeks ago, pretty strange.

Pretty much guarantees that whichever TE's currently on the Pats roster that end up being released will get a look from the Jets.

Good luck to him.

He was 6-4 290 with the Pats. I guess he could lose 20 pounds and become a blocking tight end. But, as he says, it's a very different position. He may know how to block defensive ends. He may not know a lot about getting open against linebackers and safeties.

Having a big, athletic defensive player that can play in the goal-line package is one thing. Trying to hold down an NFL roster spot as a first-year tight end is a far tougher challenge.

Actually I remember hearing that a month ago or so...an dit seemed kind of odd...I wonder how good his hands are?? A lot of difference from teh DL..to be a full time TE...I am sure he must have had some expereince at TE in college or before..

seems a little big to be a t.e. you would think if they just wanted a blocking t.e. they would get a good pulling guard to suit up

I saw a similar article a year ago and was started by mangini. also malamanuaula [sp?] is 290 and plays a pure blocking role for the chargers and is very effective.

malamauaula is also a REAL tight end as far as I know..not a conversion to that position.
