Patriots NT Vince Wilfork indicated Wednesday that he is considering sitting out mandatory minicamps due to displeasure with his contract.
The camp is next Wednesday. "If I have to, I will (skip)," he said. "We’ll see. This is the business part. I hate it, but at the same time, I have to look out for Vince Wilfork. I don’t know when I’m going to be stepping on the field."

So it begins...

Well that truly sucks, not good news at all

I dont blame Vince if he decides to sit out during camp, mans the best player at his position in all of football. Pay the man..

Well, I hope the team fines his ass for every day he misses and refuses to rescind the fines when he finally shows up.

Get this moving front office!!!

Not surprised...not happy....but he has been up front about it now..straight forward..I give him credit for that..Now what will the team say??

Displeasure with his contract? Does he mean the one he signed when he was drafted and was all smiles over? What about honoring your commitment?

Sit out all you want and be prepared to get fined back to the stone age.

Sorry Vince, In todays economic climate, you'll get no sympathy from me.

I love how NFL players think a good business move is asking for a new contract while you DISHONOR your original contract. You can tell these morons don't know **** outside of football when they pull this crap.

I understand his beef, but why are you sitting out? I understand he wants a new deal, he should. Now is the time to do it before his price goes insane (ala Samuel) I think players should at least, ya know, HONOR their original contracts before asking for a more lucrative one.

Great business move.

I'm glad you are in charge of nothing more than bad posts on the internet. ************.

What he said X 100...............

Does anyone think this situation with VW was a motivating factor
in PATs getting Brace in the draft?

Once he misses a mandatory day, he's no better than Branch. Too bad, Wilfork, now we know what you really are.

Silly me. And here I thought that next year 2010 was his contract year.

Were I BB, I'd send Wilfy video of the dining menu from training camp with HD color and the sound of steak sizzling. Problem solved!

Co-sign. Vince is one of my favorite players on this team, but I can't see where he's coming from here. He has next to no leverage, particularly w the CBA situation in flux. It makes an awful lot of sense for the Pats to wait until next year to deal w him, Sey & Mankins, and the Pats have to look out for the Pats, not Vince Wilfork. He should just go out and play and increase his value.

Welcome to the thread, Mr. Pot. Try reading the CBA.

Reiss just posted an article w a different tone to it, worth checking out, glad to see:

"But one thing I can assure you all is that I will be playing this season as a New England Patriot, unless something changes," he continued. "I'm looking forward to the season. I'm getting better. Just because you don't see me I'm working. I'm getting better."

I want them to get a deal done, and I don't want him to get to free agency. However, skipping mandatory practices is not the way to do it. Any time any player does it, I'm immediately on the sign of management in regards to that particular action and the fining as a response.

As long as he accepts the fines, he's not violating his contract.

Military personnel aside, almost everybody in this country has the right to stop working at their job and, as a consequence, not get paid. Football players actually have more complicated restrictions on those rights than most people do. So it's harsh to blame them for taking advantage of the little recourse they do have.
