Patriots NT Vince Wilfork indicated Wednesday that he is considering sitting out mandatory minicamps due to displeasure with his contract.
The camp is next Wednesday. "If I have to, I will (skip)," he said. "We’ll see. This is the business part. I hate it, but at the same time, I have to look out for Vince Wilfork. I don’t know when I’m going to be stepping on the field."

I love how NFL players think a good business move is asking for a new contract while you DISHONOR your original contract. You can tell these morons don't know **** outside of football when they pull this crap.

I understand his beef, but why are you sitting out? I understand he wants a new deal, he should. Now is the time to do it before his price goes insane (ala Samuel) I think players should at least, ya know, HONOR their original contracts before asking for a more lucrative one.

Co-sign. Vince is one of my favorite players on this team, but I can't see where he's coming from here. He has next to no leverage, particularly w the CBA situation in flux. It makes an awful lot of sense for the Pats to wait until next year to deal w him, Sey & Mankins, and the Pats have to look out for the Pats, not Vince Wilfork. He should just go out and play and increase his value.

I want them to get a deal done, and I don't want him to get to free agency. However, skipping mandatory practices is not the way to do it. Any time any player does it, I'm immediately on the sign of management in regards to that particular action and the fining as a response.

As long as he accepts the fines, he's not violating his contract.

Military personnel aside, almost everybody in this country has the right to stop working at their job and, as a consequence, not get paid. Football players actually have more complicated restrictions on those rights than most people do. So it's harsh to blame them for taking advantage of the little recourse they do have.
