So what's the bottom for Ortiz and his avg?

How low can it go before he stops getting greater respect than he deserves.

Oh ... btw ... is he one of those 100 names on the steroid list ... word is he is.

My guess ... I'll go .149 ... why not I think it's a bit high for a former juicer. Must be the guilt of it all.

Here's the deal with Ortiz: he claims to be 33, I'll bet he's closer to 40. That would explain a lot.

I say give him until the All Star break...if he still sucks then he needsto go on the DL and we need to see more of Carter from AAA or trade for a big bat

it used to be that lots of guys would drop off fairly dramatically in their 30s even before steroids, though Papi's decline is dramatic for 1 year to be sure.

A 70s/80s example of the after-30 power decline was George Foster, going from 52 HR, 149 RBI, 0.320 at age 28 to 13 HR, 70 RBI, 0.247 at age 33.

We are so used to seeing 'roids preventing the "normal" decline these days. Maybe he did it and has stopped, but I hope that's not it (that he juiced).

word is? from who? from where?

People (writers) who have seen the list but need to protect their sources as they say in that business ... we'll see soon ... in the next few years who is on the list.

what writers ? what papers? espn? i haven't seen or read anything about ortiz and roids. some have speculated but nobody has so much as hinted ortiz is on that list. if a writer had that story he would simply write the story and quote a unnamed source.

You could protect your sources and still release the info. Thats what actual journalists do.

Or, more likely, you're just making **** up.

Yeah ... that must be it.

Papi gotta go because he hasn't been productive lately. I would rather see Bay get paid than Papi.

i think he got off roids or hgh

and before you claim me being a hater, i'm a padre fan and i half expect adrian gonzalez to be on roids

hard to trust anyone these days (manny cheated and i though he was just natural lol)

Ortiz is getting paid no matter what so the money isn't a concern.

The one thing with Roids is that you will get bigger on them, and when you get off you will start to look different. Papi started skinny but got fatter instead of more toned and muscular, and I think steroids would have helped him get a more ripped and less fat body. I am not saying I'm right, because I could be wrong. Just my opinion. Also, read this article below about Ortiz and how he could have lied about age. Also if you notice his home run stats slowly rose and then declined. Here is the line from a rookie to today: 1, 9, 0, 10, 18, 20, 31, 41, 47, 54, 35, 23, 1. It is not like he suddenly spiked in power like most people say, his power slowly rose and peaked in 2006, and now might be declining.

Are you still thinking the list does not exist?
list of 104 players - Google News

I dont think anyone said there wasnt a list. They were saying where and who said that Papi was on it. The link provided proves nothing that you said and every single one of those articles is written like a fan and not a true journalist. Words like Cheater and Liar being used is the proof and frankly makes those articles useless

BTW Papi is back hitting .345 over the last 3 weeks. His power is back to all fields so looks like this discussion could be over

The people who wanted to bench Papi are the same people who thought Matt Cassel was the worst QB in NFL history.
