Don't cry. Maybe Ken Walter is available.

Chris Hanson stands alone at punter
Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff May 29, 2009 03:20 PM

In a move that leaves veteran Chris Hanson as the lone punter on the roster, the Patriots released rookie Aaron Perez today.

Perez had been signed by the Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 4. The 22-year-old played for four seasons at UCLA from 2005-08.

The Patriots now have 90 players on their roster.

Not really a large surprise..Perez was OK..but really not the one who could challenge. I DO think another may be brought in...maybe a vet....next!!!!!!

Will the Pats ever find a young punter? Hansen is alright, but nothing special.

*groan* here we go again. Luckily Hanson should seldom be punting in 2009.

Hanson's a good punter. Ah, who cares?

Not the least bit surprised he got cut and cut early...

...obviously opening up a roster spot for Peppers...

And queue the Hanson haters.....

Seriously though he has done his job and what is expected of him. If you want an "all-pro" punter what does that say about your confidence in our offense!

Age is sort of irrelevant for punters. Who cares.

If we get the Chris Hanson who boomed missiles through the Buffalo hurricane for 2009, I'm happy. And early reports from the OTA's are that Hanson has looked terrific, while Perez had a slow delivery and was a bit shanky.

Thing is, he didn't. I'm sure the next three cuts will be for Peppers, Pisa and Seward.

I don't hate Hanson but this is faulty logic. Why not try to find the worst player at every other player other than offense then? Why even carry a punter on the team? What does that say about your confidence in our offense!

There is nothing wrong with wanting the best players at every position.

After Cassel, no one upped their stock more in '09 than Hanson. And he did it with just one game!

I've never been a huge fan of the guy, but he started to win me over last year, and obviously showing he could excel in windy conditions upped his stock exponentially for this Northeast team.
