Re: Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa was in for a visit today

hopefully he signs

So, if they were to use him mainly in passing situations (3rd down), that would make his smallish size less of a factor, no?
Or is this someone we would expect to play more?
Big nickel guy?
Hybrid?
Mutant?
People are always talking about pass rush coming from the edge, but I think that our offense seemed to have more trouble with pressure coming up the middle, right?
Can this guy be a situational pass rusher from an inside LB position?

Re: Tinoisamoa visits Patriots

An article linked earlier (PFW, I think) referred to him as very undersized. Maybe a tweener like Don Davis as someone mentioned.

Good call. I've read, after his release from the Rams, that he played as low as 220 LBS last year, but the Don Davis comparison seems spot on to me. He would probably be good competition for Tank Williams at the nickel LB spot.

I'm not sold there is a strong interest. The market for Tinoisamoa is pretty weak. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the guy. A few teams have brought him in, but no one has officially offered him a contract. I am thinking Belichick is just doing his due dilligence homework visit. I am guessing they won't sign him, but they might potentially keep him on a list of players to bring in if needed in the future.

As much as I'd like you to eat some crow for your previous insistence that the Patriots would never be interested in this guy, I'm not sold either.

With the rumors that the Pats might be interested in other LBs it would be just like Belichick to bring in Tinoisamoa just for posturing purposes in contract dealings with Burgess or Ellis, trying to keep their price down etc... - or letting the Raiders know the Pats have alternatives other than giving up a higher draft pick.

It looks like I am right. The Pats opted to go with Paris Lenon over Tinoisamoa.
