Clearly, that is correct. And, it would be the rare doctor who could perform brain surgery if the competency criteria included having been a patient for such surgery oneself.
In raising the "run scared" point, I was only expressing my exasperation with those who seem to enjoy calling Maroney all sorts of names but who have little understanding of the game and/or no appreciation of what it takes to be a successful RB in the NFL.
I have no objection to the kind of critique that you offer in your second paragraph; it is fair, objective and it is offered with respect for the player. That is definitely NOT the case with some of the nonsense that is written about Maroney and that was, for example, written about Matt right after he took over for Tommy last year. That is what I gave rise to my comment.
We all come out here to express our opinions on the quality of play in a rough sport in an even rougher League, a League in which few if any of us could ever play in our wildest dreams. That's a given. What I don't like are comments that betray both ignorance of the game itself and a lack of respect for these guys who bust their guts (and shoulders) playing in it.
