Would you give him a look? Assuming he doesn't go to Jail and serves his suspension which would probably be between 4-6 weeks IMO. I am starting this now before ESPN links us with him as a possible destination. I think he would be a great addition. Moss, Burress, Welker, Galloway, Lewis...Oh MY:eek:. Just me fantasizing dont kill me too much.;)

But would his ego be in check?

We don't need him. And I don't want him.

While BB has had success dealing with malcontents, Burress is a guy who's been a pain in the ass for both the Steelers and the Giants. If those teams couldn't keep him under control, I would think New England would consider it a very bad risk. I'd pass on him if it were up to me. Some people just stay stupid all their lives, and Burress seems to be one of them.

Cant argue with that. I don't think Plax will be a problem for any team if he accepts what ever punishment he gets, but if tries to appeal a suspension I don't think he'd learn his record. I will say he is a warrior the way he played in the playoffs that year but does the risk outweigh the reward? I think the team that ultimately gives him a chance should ask themselves that question a million times. I would probably give him a deal similar to the one we gave Moss the first time or maybe T.O.'s Deal up in Buffalo.

No thanks. You might as well explore a trade for Chad Johnson if you're willing to sign Plaxico Burress. I'll pass on both scenarios. The Patriots won't want the potential distraction each of these players could create.

If he gets out of line we will make him shoot himself in the leg again :D

Burress doesn't cost anything in draft picks or players. I can see opposing teams just deciding send 10 men at Brady and hoping they guess right with the 11th if you had a receiving crew of

Moss
Galloway
Welker
Burress
Faulk

On the field. It's not as if any team in the league could cover that group. It'd be like playing Madden. The only reason I don't like it is that I don't trust those who don't learn from past mistakes. I've been easier on T.O. because he tends to behave year 1 so I don't mind the idea of 1 year deals with someone of his mindset.

Take out Burress and add Lewis, Taylor or one of the new TEs. Don't need Burress, don't want to pay him, don't want him around. He's lucky he didn't shoot himself in the femoral artery.

None of those players brings the talent that Burress does. As I said earlier, I'd pass on him if it were up to me, but that doesn't mean that I don't/shouldn't recognize and admit the cost of my preference.

As for him being lucky, I'm not sure how possibly going to jail for 3 years because of a law that should have been ruled Unconstitutional under the incorporation notions that most of the Bill Of Rights has had applied to it is all that lucky.

No. He's not going to be playing football, he's going to JAIL. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Plexiglas Furnace is too stupid to be a Patriot.

Would you sign Burress to prevent another team, the Jets, from signing him? Even then, I say no. Brady will have enough targets to throw to this season. Someone else made a good point. Burress has been a headache for both Pittsburgh and the Giants. I mean would Pittsburgh want him back? No.

Think about it, he shot himself accidentally. That's as irresponsible as Brandon Marshall, from horseplay, inadvertently having his arm go through a home entertainment center. You can't make this stuff up. The humor writes itself. New England would've to include certain stipulations in Burress' contract to protect themselves in case of future incidents. Personally, I'm not willing to take that risk that he'll fly straight for an entire season.

The Giants'dream season was thrown into turmoil yesterday when Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub and linebacker Antonio Pierce tried to hide the gun, police sources said.

Burress is expected to be arrested on felony weapons charges in the coming days, while Pierce's attorney was in frantic discussions with cops last night to stave off criminal charges, police sources said.

Burress' latest self-inflicted wound came after he was initially turned away from the LQ nightclub in midtown because he was packing heat, police sources said. Burress, 31, who was sporting flashy jewelry and carrying loads of cash, told club management he needed the gun to protect himself, sources said.

After initially downplaying the injury that required surgery, Marshall has acknowledged it was the result of horseplay with family members and a misplaced fast-food bag. He said he slipped on the bag Saturday while wrestling with family members at a Florida resort and put his right arm through a home entertainment center.

In a statement, Broncos head athletic trainer Steve Antonopulos confirmed reports Marshall "sustained right forearm lacerations to one artery, one vein, one nerve, two tendons and three muscles."

Jail won't stop him from playing...but the suspension that is going to come from the Commissioner will.

He tucked a loaded gun into his sweatpants, safety off. It fired without killing him or hitting anyone else. That qualifies as lucky.

He knowingly broke the law (like the law or not), one that we can assume he has broken repeatedly in the past, and got caught. It's like a guy going 80 in a 55 zone every day for a year, finally getting a ticket and cursing his bad luck.

Please. Don't. Sign. Him.

How soon people forget that he is going to end up in the clink.

Burress seems to think that he is going to be able to get around

the N.Y. gun law and serve no jail time.

Do you think they will let him out of jail on the weekend to

play football?

Only if he goes to the Bengals or Browns so his orange inmate jumpsuit will match the uniform color.

Belichick will take a chance on malcontents and screw ups if he thinks there are mitigating circumstances and and deep down they care passionately about football and playing for championships. That is certainly not the case with guys like Vick and Plex. Each require their own rules and believe allowances should be made to accommodate their lifestyle and inflated ego. That **** doesn't happen here. Bill may dabble in rehab but he isn't running a half way house. Bill realizes everybody makes mistakes. That's not what these guys do. They establish patterns of behavior over lifetimes. Talent is intriguing, but at the end of the day it's teamwork and discipline and focus that wins championships. The effort expended on attempting to manage certain talent within the confines of that dynamic just isn't worth it. The giants didn't need Plex to win their championship anymore than they needed Shockey. He did little in fact to cause them to. The one play he made was a layup that resulted from a combination of a bad call, poor execution and a preceding circus catch from a not nearly as talented guy who overachieved all game and a putz of a QB who just wouldn't go down... They need someone to stretch the field and ideally command double teams, who doesn't, but you also need that guy to show up and practice and be a teamate and not be a devisive force or distraction let alone an embarassment to all those who showed faith in him.

And in the end decisions like this aren't up to Bill. They rest with Myra's husband, the one who said if he had to hire thugs and hoodlums to win, he'd just get out of the NFL. Belichick got the job here because he assured him he would not have to.
