Throwback jerseys - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com

One follow-up note on the Patriots' plans to wear throwback jerseys in four games during the 2009 season:

Some have asked if the 1963 jerseys will be the red ones or the white ones.

It turns out the answer is both.

In the two home games -- against Buffalo (Sept. 14) and Tennessee (Oct. 18) -- the Patriots will wear red.

In the two road games -- against Denver (Oct. 11) and Miami (Dec. 6) -- the Patriots will wear white.

Can't wait to beat the Oilers!

The Bronco uniforms look awful! Can anyone remember the last time that New England wore white jerseys in Miami.....?

It was probably the debacle game in 2004 - it was a night game so the Fiends were wearing their orange alternate jerseys. I don't recall the Pats playing a night game in Miami since.

Most likely the AFC championship game in January of 1986

white jersey...red pants

No, they wore red in that game. They also wore red for the playoff game at the Jets.

Has anybody seen the home throwback Broncos Jersey's? They are bright yellow and ugly as hell. It's going to be painful to look at that when these two teams meet on MNF.

anyone notice that it is all coaches holding up the uniforms except for... you guessed it, the patriots. Kraft instead of Belichick

nice brown color, dudes.

The apparent reason is that the GM was cheap and bought the jersies 2nd hand!

"The story has it that, for the Broncos’ inaugural season, general manager Dean Griffing purchased what were considered “compromise” uniforms, light colored jerseys and drab brown pants along with socks with vertical stripes that could be worn at both home and away games. Reputed to be extremely frugal (cheap is more like it), Griffing reportedly bought these used uniforms from a defunct organization in Tucson, Arizona. Research indicates differing accounts as to the exact origin of the uniforms. Some sources have indicated that the uniforms were purchased from a defunct college bowl organization (Cooper Bowl College All-Star Game), while coach Jack Faulkner has suggested that the uniforms came from an Arizona semi-pro organization ”the Rattlers” with whom Griffing had been previously employed. With a team that looked like that, it’s a wonder the American Football League lived long enough to merge with the NFL.

Yeah, those were the ones that they burned in a bonfire at the stadium for the fans.

hmmmm ..... then it would have been the last sunday or monday night game as the Fins only wear white during day games. Could have been the night Miami had their orange unis on. But who really cares.

Yikes those things are ugly. If I had to wear one of those, I'd consider throwing myself on a bonfire. :scared:
