Steelers: James Harrison refuses to visit White House with team

I've always wondered why they go... I surely wouldn't.

I've never understood the Americans' obsession with their presidents. It's like their royalty (which is also a useless title). Funny how 18th century citizens depose one king to install another.

Anyhoo - I am a fan of the NE Patriots. I want my favorite team to win. I do not care if the players that make that happen go see the president or not, as long as they win. Disrespectful ? So what ? Did my team win ? All that matters.

OT - but it's like the whole (sorry) Manny not going - to president or war hospital - and everyone is upset. As a sports fan, I just want my favorite team to entertain me with a win. Don't care about their personalities, beliefs, ... just win.

Honestly, I think nobody cares a bit whether Harrison attended or not. He could have passed on the invite without raising an eyebrow. It's his muddleheaded declaration about it that has attracted all the attention -- his seeming indignation that the invitation wasn't more personal and heartfelt.

But yeah, football news is slowwww in May.

Get over yourself James. If you don't want to go then simply say, "No thank you, I'm not interested."

Shouldn't it be: “... if you want to visit the White House, then go out and win the Super Bowl...”

So what, he expects the White House to invite all 32 teams? This is a privelege (to be invited as a team), not a right.

He's got issues.

It is the stupidity of what he said that made news - not that he isn't going.

Culture has erroded when one feels 'disrepected' by the symbol of our freedom........ Sad.........

I think they should invite some "Raider fans". Now that would be funny!:D What a photo op that could be. The world would Pissss it's pants!:eek:

Look at it this way: When Harrison's NFL career is over, visiting the White House and being greeted by the President of the United States is one of those experiences he won't have had and won't be able to describe to his grandchildren.

I think the whole thing falls into the category of nose-cutting off and face-spiting. Fortunately, the only loser here is...James Harrison.

I saw the video yesterday the man is a dunce.

we now know why he was bypassed in the draft- record low Wonderlic scores! ;)

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing any one has ever said about anything.

Its no wonder this fool wasn't drafted. I imagine when asked about the "wonderlik" he said he could get to the center in 3 licks, he saw an Owl do it on TV.
