Hey all ... here's the latest offering, a look at new Patriots' long snapper Nathan Hodel. A former Arizona Cardinal, he has some interesting stuff to say about last year's Super Bowl and what it's like to be romanced by the Patriots as a free agent.

We have serious competition for the long snapper position. If only we had the same competition for inside linebacker positions.

Inside and outside linebacker. The Pats even cut two linebackers from

last year (Rudd and Robertson).

With all due respect to Mr. Hodel, I really wouldn't mind in the least if Perez and Ingram beat out Hanson and Hodel, resulting in "The snap from Ingram, Perez holds, and Gostkowski's kick . . . IS GOOD!" for the next decade or so. :D

Good work, Chris! Nice to get an inside perspective from a new team member.

I thought this quote was very telling. I asked him if he had any preconceived ideas about the Patriots before he arrived in Foxboro. (It's something I usually ask all new guys -- can get some interesting reactions.) Some players around the league still believe the Patriots are "arrogant."

“Some guys around the league have a notion that the Patriots can be kind of arrogant, but my thing is that if you’re winning, you can do whatever you want,” he said. “You kind of write your own ticket.”

When you win other teams and thier fans think you are arrogant

Confidence in manner and speech is also often equated to arrogance by the onlooker. It's frequently a product of the viewer's jealousy/dislike/anger/etc... as opposed the person being called arrogant actually being so.

haha...I liked this part:

“But I didn’t have any preconceived notions, but it was really when I took that visit and was in the building, it’s just all football. There’s no nonsense. If you need something in the training room, it’s there. If you need something in the weight room, it’s there. If the coaches need something, it seems like it’s there. It’s not like, ‘Well, we’ll see if we can get a hold of that.’ It’s what you need to be successful, and now the onus is on you to succeed.”

Ha! you beat me.
