Premier League.

Barcelona's performance was as good as any I've seen for a decade. Maybe longer. That game could have finished 10.

In England, Liverpool keep up the chase on Manu with a 3-0 victory at home to a sorry Newcastle. The only good news for the Magpies is that the Makems lost at home. A glimmer of hope maybe?

In Scotland, Rangers win at home to close the gap on Celtic to 1pt with only 4 games to go. The two meet at Ibrox next week.

Marseilles eventually drew at home, 2-2, but Bordeaux close the gap. Nerves getting to them?

I think learning that Gerets is leaving really hurt the team this week. Bordeaux is a great side. Lyon is out of the running now. This will definitely be the most exciting end of the season in France in several years.

In England, Liverpool keep the pressure on Manu with a 3-0 win at West Ham.

Disaster in Scotland as Celtic crash to a 1-0 win at Rangers. The blue side of Glasgow now go top with only 3 games left.
I didn't see the game as I was at a young girl's First Communion :D
Later on that night, that same girl was rewarded with her first ever grown up concert! Girls Aloud, no less. They were brilliant. AC/DC have a lot to live up to at Hampden Park in June.

Sarah Harding. WoW :D

In the battle of the Mancs, United beat Citeh 2-0 to remain on course for the title.

The real story is the battle to stay up. WBA now in with a chance of surviving. Big game tomorrow night between Magpies and Moggies. A win for either team could help them stay in the premiership.

On the flip side whoever loses tommorow will probrably be relegated. Although both Newcastle and Middlesbrough have been p!ss poor for a while I fancy Boro'. Their squad they have more of an edge to them I feel, their strikers just dont fire like they should but they should get chances tommorow. The idea of defence is lost on Newcastle.

Can't see Hughes at City next season.

Which looks now to be Middlesbrough after their 3-1 defeat at St.James's Park last night. Hull now look to be in trouble, but it is going to be tight. Sunderland not out of the mix either.

Southgate will be gutted as they took the lead and were the better side for most periods. Thats why they're looking forward to Championship football I guess...

12th May 09

Delighted for Owen Coyle's Burnley team tonight as they move to within one game of winning promotion. I've met Coyle a couple of times and he is a gentleman, (and a good Celtic man ! :D).

In Scotland tonight, Celtic win at home to leapfrog Rangers into first place, at least until tomorrow night when they play in Edinburgh. C'mon the Hibees!!

13th May

Manu win at Wigan 2-1 and now they only need 1pt to win the league.

In Scotland, Rangers draw with Hibs away. :D Celtic and Rangers now equal on points, but Celtic are top due to having the better goal difference of +2 goals. :D
2 games to go, my nerves are frayed!

Marseilles and Bordeaux both win in France tonight. Both teams level on points with 3 games to go, Marseilles top due to goal difference of +2 goals.

OM dominated Nice today, and Bordeaux did enough to secure a tough road win.

Huge match this weekend against Lyon; I think if OM pull this one off, they will win the title

Wigan just ran out of steam in the end.

Bastards.

Congrats to Man Utd on winning the title, best team in the world for me.

Yes, congratulations to Manu.
As for best team in the World, Barca for me. ;)

In Scotland, Rangers go top with 1 game to play after winning at home today.
Massive game for the Celts in Edinburgh tomorrow. Must win v Hibs to leapfrog Rangers and go into the last game on top.

I meant best squad really, i agree Barca have the best XI but Utd's strength in depth is much much higher. They've got players like Nani, Anderson, Tevez, Scholes, Giggs, Evans, Da Silva twins, etc as a bench whereas Barca have players like Keita and Busquets and Gudjohnsen.

17th May 09

Disastrous weekend for the followers of O.Marseilles and Celtic.
With one game left in each league, it looks as if both will finish second in their respective leagues.
O.Marseilles, who lost at home to Lyon, now need Bordeaux to get beaten at home, whilst they win away from home.
In Scotland, Rangers need to win away to be champions. Celtic threw their chance away only drawing with Hibs. They now have to win at home and hope Rangers draw or lose.

Yes, OM probably blew their shot at the title yesterday. Down three points with just two matches to play (and Bordeaux's matches are easier tham OM's). Still a chance, but not a very good one. All Marseille can do now is get these last 6 points, and hope for the best.

Celtic drawing at Hibs was a shocker for me. I can't see Rangers losing with just one match left. You never know though.

I was disappointed that Barca and Inter were handed their league titles without even setting foot on the pitch this weekend. Was hoping Real Madrid and AC Milan would've at least made them earn it.

Love the relegation battle - and that at least one if not two big clubs are going down. And I'm thrilled for Fulham (Dempsey is one of my favorites) - one match away from a move from 17th to 7th in one year. Hodgson should be considered for manager of the year, although I bet Sir Alex gets another.

The manager of the club I'll be working for next season is a die hard Rangers fan CD, he should be happy although theres still work to be done up there. Keeps on thinking aloud why he wanted a dirty kopite on his staff :D

The mancs have earned it but we let them have it with stupid draws buts thats no excuse, just really frustrating. Making a big deal out of Rafa not congratulating Slur Alex is taking the piss, plus he actualy congratulated Man U. Flip the coin and ask yourself if Ferguson would directly congratulate Rafa, I don't think so. They don't like each other, thats the way it is...

Can't wait till next season now.

23rd May 2009

Great result in Germany for Wolfsburg. Winning the league for the very first time. Well done and good to see a provincial team beating B.Munich to the title.

O.Marseille take it to the last game of the season after winning away. You never know, Caen just might upset Bordeaux.

D.Day in Scotland  Celtic must win at home, and hope Rangers either draw or get beat at Dundee Utd. Squeaky bum time! Either way, Strachan must go! 4 years of the worst football I think I have ever witnessed. They reckon only 35,000 have renewed their season tickets out of 53,000 3 years ago. I got mine, but only just.

Talking of squeaky bums, The Toon Army will know all about it today. :D
I think they will be relegated.

Sunday 24th May

Disasterous day for Celtic and Newcastle United.
That Celtic team couldn't even beat a piss poor Hearts at home FFS! It wouldn't have mattered, because Rangers did what they had to do, go to Dundee and beat them.
It was the manner in which we played today which will seal the managers fate. It was an unacceptable performance. I hope the board at Celtic watch the hordes of blue and white dancing in the streets tonight, and resolve to do something about it next year.
Rant over :D

No matter how bad I feel tonight though, I'd rather be a Tim than a Geordie. I listened to their game on the radio, and it sounded as if they also just accepted their fate. Sad days indeed for that club. With more ahead I fear. There is an awful lot of work to do there. With their current squad, I don't think they would finish in the top half of the Championship.

So that's 2nd place in the league for both Celtic and Liverpool. I fear we will have to add Marseille to that list next week. I hope not, though. ;)

I hope Burnley win tomorrow against Sheffield Utd.
