Sure, if he brings James Laurinaitus or Rey Maualuga with him........

I would rather see McGinest come back as a OLB Coach!! He can be here and mentor our younger OLB!!

We already have a LB coach. Matt Patricia.

Seems like JT has alot more left in the tank. Willie hasn't brought much the last couple years.

You been watching the Browns closely? What's his stats the last 2 years?
Big Willie is still a force at OLB and he would be very helpful to the Patriots if they decided to bring him back.......

You spelled "farce" wrong.

2007: 13 games, 30 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 pd

2008: 14 games, 56 tackles, 1 sack, 2 pd

Yup. He's been a force alright. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but that is pretty lackluster at a glance.

Force/Farce OK I'll admit that was a good come back........

Obviously the Patriots won't be bringing Willie back. I just don't like seeing his career trashed either.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention we haven't won a SB since he left.....

But we lost in 2005 WITH him, and we wouldn't be bringing back 2004 Willie. We'd be bringing back 2009 Willie which would not be anywhere near the same.

I'm not trashing his career, he was great. I'm just skeptical he's going to add a lot to the team at his age, given what we've seen in Cleveland.

Willies last game as a Pat was the playoff game when he had 4.5 sacks setting a record.
THAT guy, I'd love to have back.
Unfortunately, the guy who is in that body and can come back had less sacks in the last 2 years combined than he had in that game.

If BB gets strapped sometime during the season I'd love to see Big Willie come back and help out :) He knows the system,he loved it here, and while I'm not sure he'd be the sack king anymore I think he could still help. He'd lay it all out there that's for sure.

Re: Anyone feel Jason Taylor back to Miami to end career = Willie McGinest back to NE

I don't know why, but ever since Jason decided to end his career where he had fame and fortune,Willie entered my mind and now I am expecting #55 to return to the team to finish his career just like Jason did.

Willie is still in good enough shape to play and I think someone will sign him - I just don't think it seems possible he will retire on another team and his only spot is right here in New England.

I expect this announcement of his return and signing as a part time player at OLB any time now.

Am I being realistic here? or is this a pipe dream?

(Ty Law is another one I thought about, but there is no room this year for him so I pass on that thought)

i hope they both come back and play one more year then retire as patriots

As much as I like Wilie, I sure as hell hope not. If Crable isn't already better than Willie, then it's time to worry (and I'm not worried).

Who's trashing his career? The man got old (for football). It happens.

McGinest 2-3 years ago, yeah. He's probably even less useful then Colvin, and that's saying something, because he did nothing last year.
