New numbers..

Good read - interesting that Andy Hart, like Mike Reiss notes the potential interest in Tinoisamoa

"Tinoisamoa would be an inside linebacker in New England. At 6-1, 240-something he’s got the right build. He had a 100-plus tackles for the Rams last year. I’m not sure his skills directly translate to New England’s 34 scheme, but I’d certainly give him a call and bring him in for a look."

I'd think that PFT might run some of these questions up the flagpole with some of their team sources as well.

But as others noted, Tinoisamoa didn't play at 240 lbs last year - he'd need to be that at least to play ILB for the Pats (though I find it tough to imagine anyone having a tough time adding 15 lbs.)

Change smith's number we need to retire 80

They should also retire #50 after we resign Vrabel to a one day contract before he retires!!

Love Troy and Vrabs but you don't want to retire too many #s and "cheapen" the honor. Retiring a player's # should belong to a select few, players like Hannah and Brady.

sorry it just doesn't feel right to have anyone but Troy Brown wearing #80 for the pats

It's following what they did with #80 and Troy Brown in '93 and #14 and Testaverde in '06. It's not retire YET so it's still available and with so many players on the roster so far it'll be needed.

...and Troy. No one has given more to the Pats than # 80.

Yeah, I guess with 91 players they need all the numbers they can get. Maybe they should start going into triple figures.

i was just thinking that!

I'd rather "un-retire" retired numbers and find another way to honor great players without putting the team in the situation of using three digit numbers due to a number shortage.

That's why some teams have the Wall of Honor, Ring of Honor, Hall of Fame. Keeps the numbers in circulation but honors those who wore that number.

What if we incorporate letters? "Starting at running back, number 32G, Freddie Smith."
