Last night I had on NFL Total Access while I was doing some chores, and they were all hyped about the Favre/Minnesota thing. I was half-listening when I heard the announcer say "Reporting from the Vikings' facility in Winter Park, here's Randy Moss."

So I looked at the screen and there was some scrawny white guy in a suit, but sure enough, when the graphic popped up it said "RANDY MOSS - NFL NETWORK".

What are the odds?

In college there was some guy from Illinoise who had the same first and last name as me; thank God we had different middle names because he turned out to even more of a nutjob than me. In fact they got us mixed up at the Student Conduct office for a while which almost prevented me from going on a "semester abroad."

I believe he's ESPN's horse race analyst

The guy should go by Randall Moss.

yea, that station is dirty. I landed on their the other day and they were like "still to come, Randy Moss picks who is gonna win the horse race" or something like that, so instead of turning it like i normally would, im like "what??? Moss and horse racing" turns out it wasnt Randy Moss

btw: I do not condone horse racing.

That Randy Moss is actually one of the world's foremost experts on horse racing, and he's not just an ESPN analyst. He has his own system of speed and pace numbers. Think of him as a sort of Bill James of horse racing. In certain circles, he's just as famous as wide receiver Randy Moss. Though it is funny that they share a name and he's a balding white guy.

Also, there was a state trooper in Tennessee named Randy Moss who was convicted last year of getting a sexual favor from a porn star at a traffic stop instead of giving her a ticket. There's lots of Randy Mosses, and they all seem to end up in the national spotlight.

That reminds me - in early 2008, when the story broke about our Randy Moss being sued by his "former girlfriend" for domestic violence or whatever it was down in Florida, a friend asked me about it so I looked up "Randy Moss legal" online and found the story about the Tennessee cop. So I told the guy, "Oh no, it was a different Randy Moss, it's a case of mistaken identity." Wouldn't that have been nice if it was?

I would get them confused myself - Both of these Randy Moss guys look so much alike :p

I think you are referring to the former all pro guard for the 49ers Randy Cross (I think he played Guard)

Maybe you're thinking of the former all-star guard Randy Smith, who averaged 24.6 ppg for the Knicks in 1977.

Spot on. He's been doing horse racing for years and is always a featured commentator during the Triple Crown races. The first time I watched the Derby his name did made me take notice tho lol.
