Jungle drums are beating in the Bronx. If you are looking for a good read, check out the Yankee message boards. After getting swept by the Sox again, their "fans" are calling for Girardi's and Cashman's heads. They're blasting the new billion and a half stadium with price gouging, leaving the real fans left out in the cold. And they're wondering what the hell are they getting out of their 220 million payroll?

It's only May 6, and a lot can happen, but for the time being, sit back and enjoy.

Joe Girardi is starting to feel the heat on ass and won't make it through July at this rate...

The new stadium looks a lot like the old one, but with more empty seats.

it's a tad early for Yankee fans to be complaining, a whopping 26 games into the season.

They want to fire the manager? It's not his fault managment spent the GNP of Brazil on three players and gave hima chickensh!t bullpen, talk about a bunch of no name stiffs.

And the headhunter needs to go back into the pen as an 8th innning bridge to Mo, end of story..................

The Yankees will be all right, ARod is coming back. Just don't know if he's starting or coming out of the bullpen.

ARod pitches now? :D

arod is not going to do anything to help this team. lets all harken back 8 months ago when Mike Lowell came back to the same injury in roughly the same time. He came back like gang busters hitting very well for the first week or 2 then the adrenaline wore off and his injury began to nag him. he was a shell by the playoffs and sat out every game after rd 1. even if he comes back and is productive he doesnt pitch and you give up 6 runs a game you will not be successful against good pitching teams (Rays,Sox,Angels,&Twins) W/without Arod they will be 8 games out by August/September

There may be truth to the rumor that Frank from Glocester was seen at Walgreens with a carriage full of Preparation H.

Frank :youtheman: Joe Gee-ah-dee

It's sort of like it is a tad to early for Sox fans to call Ortiz a bust. But I agree the Yankees so far are bad, but that can change quickly

These nuggets from the Yankee faithful:

Giardi needs to call these CLOWNS out.
Joe must go. Bring back Torre.
90 Million Tex-1 for 20 with RISP.
Worst bullpen in the Majors.
And you wonder why there are so many empty seats?

Stay tuned...

The Yankees should be fine. It's the first week of May. They were 9-15 without Arod last year IIRC. They won't be fine if Posada doesn't return, Arod can't play, and Wang doesn't get his velocity back. The Yankees have lost Nady, Bruney, Arod, Wang, Marte, and Posada to injury. That's a lot of talent & production that's missing.

As for the stadium, I hate it. I didn't like it when I first saw it, and don't like it now. It's one giant advertisement (as are most new stadiums unfortunately), and the seats that circulate from 1st base, behind the plate, on to 3rd base, are disgusting. I've noticed similar seating in some other stadiums too (KC I think has them behind home plate), and they suck. I hope no one buys any of those seats, in any stadium. Teams suck, in all pro sports, and I hope they all go out of business. I remember buying $7 and $8 seats for Fenway games when I was a teenager 15 years ago. Forget it now. I went to a Sox game 2 years ago (someone gave me the tickets cuz I refuse to pay these greedy teams), and the face value on the ticket was $85. GROSS. I went to a Pats preseason game a couple of years ago, and it was the same, $85. GROSS!!!! Celtics balcony tickets, $65. How can people afford to go? Don't get me wrong, I think teams can charge whatever they want, since it's their product. I just think they're all too greedy.

If you REALLY want the answer, you'll have to hear my rant (again) about the IRS treatment of corporate entertainment/dining tax deductibility.

RW, quit acting all mystified - - it ain't a mystery. The answer is right in front of your eyes.

Maybe you missed the part where I said it's their product, and they can charge whatever they want for it. Just cuz they can, it doesn't mean they should. Yeah, your point will be that corporations buying up luxury boxes, and season tickets, is what drives the price up. That's certainly part of it, and clearly logical. However, they aren't buying all the seats up, and it's still a choice on behalf of the organization, with respect to what they want to charge. $8 for a beer, or $6 for a water is all part of this too. $50 to park is another. Packaging tickets for KC with Yankees tickets, or requiring you buy preseason football tickets with regular season, is other crap they do. I'm not discounting what you're saying, as it absolutely contributes. My point is simply that a team can charge what it wants to. Greed pushes them to claw for every possible penny they can find, and those pennies won't be mine.

BTW, a business should do what it wants with it's money. The problem is, when you go bankrupt, don't go looking at me for a bailout.

Hits the nail square on the head; it pissed me off to no end when I had Patriots season tickets and they used to ram those preseason tickets down your throat at full price, what a joke. Not sure how the Bruins and Celtics work the preseason games, I am sure they jam you for those too; I used to give my tickets away to friends who had kids so they could take them to a game.

It all comes down to greed; as RW said, they can charge whatever they want, but it doesn't mean we the fans have to line up like sheep and go along with the plan.

Ticket sales across MLB are in the toilet so far this year; when was the last time you saw ONE empty seat at Yankee stadium for a RS/NYY series; granted the sh!tty weather did not help, but there were raftloads of empty seats in that ballpark........................
