so he gets what he wanted all along, a chance to play against the Packers twice a year in some weird twisted quest for revenge because Green Bay had the audacity to tire of his act a year ago.
It's not a done deal yet, but I could see this coming the moment the Jets announced that they had released him. But what prompted them to do that? There's no reason to stop whatever it is the Jets do, and even think about Favre - much less release him rather than leave him on the retired list.
This is pure speculation on my part, but perhaps the clause in the trade with the Packers that prevented the Jets from trading Favre last year extended to this year as well. However Favre asked for his release - or threaten to return, just like he did with the Packers - so he gets what he wanted all along, a chance to play against the Packers twice a year in some weird twisted quest for revenge because Green Bay had the audacity to tire of his act a year ago.
Weighing the pros and cons of another Favre comeback
With Favre a free agent, Vikings will weigh their interest in veteran QB
:yeahthat:
If Favre were really just looking for "one last chance to play the game he loves," he wouldn't be focused like a laser on the Vikings. This is about bitterness and a quest for revenge against a franchise and fanbase that treated him like a god for years. He said as much himself: "if you won't let me play for you, then let me play against you."
For that obsession to continue into 2009 isn't healthy. Let it go, man.
Funniest line was a comment on PFT by a reader.....
"I think it would be pretty hilarious if he comes back, and the Packers allege that Favre, the Jets, and the Vikings orchestrated this all along to circumvent the poison pill provision. What would be even funnier is if it was actually true, and Mangini knew and ratted. "
If I"m the Packers I pursue it...Nothing will happen but just to tweak the Jets.

With Lord Favre, it's always Groundhog Day
