Pats to wear throwbacks for 4 or 5 games

They're selling them on NFLshop. I might have to get myself a red Brady.

Supposedly going to be worn against original eight AFL teams this year, so Jets, Bills, Titans, and Broncos games we will see them wearing them.
From what I understood, there would be two weekends where all the original 8 would be playing each other, and this is primarily when the throwbacls will be worn. However, I took a quick look at the schedule and did not see any weekend in which this occurs (feel free to doublecheck, I spent all of 5 minutes doing this). So I guess anything goes.

I love the fact they are having more use of the throwback jerseys for the 50th aniversary of the AFL, but how about celebrating that milestone by putting a few AFL players in HOF. Guys like Gino Cappelletti get hosed because he played in the AFL and not the NFL.
Goddam right. Put Cappelletti into Canton.

It may be because I have a 2 year old, but the old logo looks like a training potty.

I don't care - it's still trippy, and predates PtP! Besides, if we're going to use scatalogical associations as an excuse, ol' Pat looks like he's taking a dump and has kept something as a toy ;) :p  :singing:

Being serious for a moment - I'm fascinated by throwbacks that look really antiquated, and this is as close as the Patriots could get to the effect. It confuses me that they couldn't, just once in my lifetime, go this route.

Also, I understand this logo was only used in the inaugural season, so there wouldn't be the strong "loser" associations.

I mean once or twice is fine but 1/4 of the season could cause them to loose the effect. This might be overdoing it.
You only have a 50th anniversary of anything once. Yes, the old unis (mostly the red shirt ones) do remind me too much of those losing years. Well, they weren't all losing years, but a lot of them were. My worst memory of those years was Chuck Fairbanks letting the team down late in 1978 by announcing he was leaving, and also Fairbanks' abuse of Jim Plunkett as a QB, sending in QB option plays when Jim was hurt. My all time Patriots goat is Fairbanks. But again, for a 50 year thing, wear the old unis a few times.

yes, i read it now too: great !

i hope expecially that Ne-Ten will be one of those games with Titans using Oilers unis

Maybe they can start using oil derricks in Tennessee. I don't know what for, but, oh, that's a home game for the Patriots. GO Pats!

September 14th. Bills vs. Patriots and Chargers vs. Raiders both on Monday Night Football confirmed for one date.

They have to have a second one per NFL rules(must wear jersey at least twice) so could be an away game against one of the teams.

Here's all eight jerseys at a press conference:
NFL will celebrate 50th anniversary season of American Football League

Funny that it's not the official 1960 uniform they are wearing- it's the 1963 division championship team uniform...no 1960 tricorn cap for them.

Kind of lame they include the Titans. Unless the Titans wear their Oilers uniforms. Any word on that?

it seems that TEN Titans will wear Oilers unis 3 times during 2009 season too; let's see if 1 game of them will be against the Patriots

so....2 games with red unis and 2 with white unis

red ones at home and white ones on road

seems that also Tampa Bay will play with their throwbacks this season

so also 'Bucco Bruce' will return

seems they will play with the orange unis against the GB Packers on 8 november

What's wrong with the Titans? (This guy was pretty good, BTW).

I think the old Pats uniforms were some of the best ever, certainly in my top 5 all time NFL uniforms. I'm old school, I like the older, simpler logos and uniforms. My favorites are the Colts (obviously), the Browns, Pat Patriot era Patriots, Steelers, etc.

When i was a kid I used to love those Patriot uniforms and when the Pats weren't playing the Colts I actually rooted for them basically because I liked their uniforms.

I think the flying Elvis ones are one of the ugliest in the league though.

I like the throwbacks(for a short while old Pats Jacket and hat will be in style :) ,but more than 2-3 games may indeed tend to ruin the novelty,as someone has posted.....

You guys are missing the most hilarious aspect of these teams having to wear these throwbacks...it means that KC will have to play with TEXAS on their Helmet!!!

Sorry but I find that Freaking Hysterical!!!

Even worse when you consider who they will wear it against on October 11th- the team that drove them out of Dallas!

What is funny is that the Texans out drew the Cowboys in their final year and won the AFL championship but still choice to move. Was a good thing though because Kansas City has a really great move.
