With alex smith trade, although I see him more in a heath evans role, and the pass rush still in flux just a bit how about this trade proposal..

Ben Watson Next year number 1 and 2 for the Julius Peppers... I would still like Peppers, but the more I thought about it , not at the cost of the so called Seymoer for peppers trade.. Any thoughts??

Let the flaming begin, I can take it..

SHHHHHHH!!!!
Your gonna piss a whole lot of people off with this thread! :) Haha but seriously Id rather develop our own young talent by keeping next years draft picks and getting Sergio Kindle (my avatar) or Hardy or Selvie. Kindle is our best bet as of now because I think he will be the next Ware...I know its a huge stretch as of now but you will see,:) We also have plenty of other needs going in to next year ILB, RB, DE...I say we leave peppers alone for now but If we did get him I wouldn't pay a first and a second plus the cost of his new contract.

I wouldn't even give a first for Peppers. He's going to cost a lot, and trading away multiple opportunities to draft talented, cost-controlled players for guys with his price tag is a quick way to end up in cap hell.

Damn you Vic Carucci...LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO PATRIOTS NATION!!

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

Will you bring along a gun to give the Panthers so they can make the robbery look more justified?

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

Funny stat is watson had better career season then this dude`s best and also with watson in most blocking role we had more rush yards then buc`s.

I am confused what am i missing having caught less balls and blocking for a lesser running yards he has proven his superiority.

peppers want 15 million to play 9 million dollar position.the best OLB avg 9 too not some player who is going to learn this new position.

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

We might as well trade our first. BB hates first round picks and no quarentee we can trade down on draft day.

if it was for demarcus ware i would say yes but to give up a #1 a #2 and ben watson for peppers who has never played standing up at LB and we would have to give him at lest 9 mil a yer but from what i hear hes not all that happy what the panthers giveing him all most 17 mil this yer NFL network says hes looking for the same thing albert haynesworth got or more 6 yer 100 mil with a 40 mil signing bonus

Belichick's drafted a lot of really good players in the first round, including the entire starting D-Line.

A bag with $$$ on it should suffice...

Too much for someone that I don't believe they need as much as is hoped. He's a great player but they can survive without him.

I've been trying to give up my peppers avy, but just can't bring myself to do it yet...I need HELP! Or maybe I can use this one as a kind of compromise. Yeahhhh...that's it!

Exactly. Sometimes I wonder...

I don't think tht it would be so bad for the Panthers- you get rid of a franchised player that has absolutely no intention of resigning with you anyways and pick up a first and a second. Would leave them in a ton of trouble this year, though.

It's better for them than the Patriots though, they get rid of him but also end up with two very high draft picks and a starting player- it's a bit one sided...

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

Dont forget the draft pick will be the 32nd...:rocker:

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

There is no VALUE in peppers. he's a good player, but if you pay him 10M per year there is no VALUE there. Value is the difference between what you get and what you pay.

BB doesn't like #1 picks anyway!! Pure stupidity. He turns them into 2nds and 3rds. Of course he likes them.

NC is saddled with a guy they have to pay 17M per year to. If anything they should pay US to take him off their hands. I wouldn't be surprised if they take back his franchise tag.

Do a little "thought" experiment. How many #1s would you give up for Peppers? "Lots, man, like he's a REALLY GOOD PLAYER!!". OK, how about if you had to pay him 50M per year and you had to cut all the rest of your players. How about that? Still think he's worth trading picks for?

Why are you so quick to overpay for the 29 year old Peppers? Seriously. That is WAY too much for him.

Re: Will deserve the flame, but have to throw this out there..

hypothetical here:

what are we gonna do on this forum if they land him and he signs a multi-year cap friendly deal??? I think we might all actually start laughing till we pass out

The Panthers are stuck. Why would we have to give Watson and a #1 AND a #2? I say Watson and a #2. Period. Take it or leave it. Also, the Peppers thing is over, but I appreciate your caveat so I'll leave it alone! ;)
