Travis Lavoy cut by Cardinals

He is the absolute man....Patriots should sign him immediately

Re: Zona release hood and laboy

Laboy is coming off of major surgery - torn bicep.

Re: Travis Lavoy Cut by Cardinals

Very insightful, lots of substance. Also, it's LaBoy

Re: Travis Lavoy Cut by Cardinals

His release might have something to do with the fact that he is injury prone. He had surgery to repair a torn bicep.

Re: Travis Laboy Cut by Cardinals

ohh...you've never seen him play...you don't watch football

Agree. Good football player. Can he so OLB though? Maybe the best Sack FA available other that Taylor. Only 27. Even if we IR him he adds value next year.
Don't think he will be passed over by many other teams though. He played last year with one arm and still had 4 sacks (as many as Vrabel).

I was a fan of his coming out of college. Worth a look. He has the size and can bring pressure.

Re: Travis Lavoy Cut by Cardinals

The Cardinals are, after the draft, top heavy at the position, so the cut of LaBoy was not a huge surprise. A mild one, though. Once they cut Edge, they freed up plenty of cap money, so this wasn't a straight money cut. It might be that they are not optimistic about his ability to play 16 games next year. Definitely a red flag, but assuming he can convince teams that he is not injured, I think he will get interest on the free agent market.

Cardinals also cut Hood, who I think will land somewhere. Average corner.

No doubt, Travis LaBoy is an absolute sackmaster extroidonaire. With his long locks and one dimensional game, and 23.5 career sacks in 5 NFL seasons, he is the homeless man's Kevin Greene. If we could pay him close to a homeless man's salary, I would have no problem bringing him in to get cut or sit on the IR. Although you never know, perhaps he could provide the spark the pass rush needs with his surfer cool. I have never seen him drop into coverage, but neither did Kevin Greene!

LaBoy falls into the Jarvis Moss category. If a coach that employs a 3-4, or a hybrid 4-3/3-4, or wants to play a 3-4, is dumping this guy, what makes anyone think he'd fit in New England?

:D

NICE... and funny too.

I checked out this Cardinals fan forum, and after reading the first few pages of a 275-comment thread on the release of Laboy, Hood and James, what jumped out to me was (a) no Arizona fans were upset that Laboy was being cut, and (b) cutting Laboy did not save the Cardinals cap space; in fact, it cost them $2.5 million in cap space to let him go!

Now this is a team that needs cap room and just went to the Super Bowl. Based on what they just gave Kurt Warner they are not facing financial difficulties, so why did they make this move? Would it not have made more sense to keep him on the roster, and at worst case IR him in training camp?

The next question to me is this: if Arizona is willing to take a $2.5 million cap hit to let Laboy go, is this a injured and unproductive player really worth considering?
