Jets Cut Brett Favre; should the Patriots go after him?

I think he would be a good fit in our spread packages and wildcat.
Also, he is familiar with the 3-4.

Good post!

Yeah, we really need THE HOF veteran gunslinger in here to teach the youngsters how not to manage an offense efficiently and draw up plays in the dirt when watching film just puts you to sleep.

He would fill the void left by Asante, and especially in cold situa... oh wait he THROWS the int's not catches them.

I guess Mangini left a void at D-bag that he could fill.

It sure would be a confidence boost for the rest of the AFCE, lol.

He'll wind up with one more pitiful year in Vikings Purple.

I hope he ends up facing the Packers as a Vik and Rodgers chucks 6 TD's in each game. That would be almost as awesome as watching the Pats in pre-season. ;)

your talking about one of the best QB of all time i think hes got a lil to much prid to just sit and watch brady play if hes going to came back its going to be as a starter with a team that can make a run at the playoffs

Well, Brady might not be 100% coming off an injury. Brett can compete for the starting role at camp. Either way we will have a vet back up that way.

That is true, but he might be a bit old to transition to playing defense. What position did you have in mind?

With the departure of Hobbs, there is a glaring need at Kickoff Return Specialist...Favre did have the luxury of studying under Desmond Howard for a few years, I say bring him in as camp fodder and see who prevails.

You guys are all missing the point as to what his real value could be to the team. He could take away all the media attention from BB and TB with his weekly press conferences. They would alternate between whether he is going to retire again or whether/when he expects to take over the starting job from TB. BB would never have to speak to the media again!! This could definitely be "the best move for our team" by BB!

Favre does fit a need. Since we lost Pioli this offseason, the Pats could use a QB who thinks he is the GM of the team and likes to tell the real GM who he should hire for coaches or sign/trade for with players. Favre here would take a lot of load off of Belichick's plate.

arent the jets hung out to dry if he signs with another team?

I'm all for signing Favre just so we can cut him

Can he bring that speed off the edge as an OLB? I frequently hear his name associated with high sack numbers.
