He is so funny when he starts talking about Mangini skipping over Crabtree!!!

"Michael Crabtree has been more successful as a receiver than that guy as a coach at this point," Leach said of Mangini

"My definition of a diva is someone who's loud and self-absorbed," Leach told reporters. "Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I've seen. ... Let's see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."

Magina won three superbowl rings, Crabtree hasn't played a game. How soon we forget!

That's ridiculously stupid of Leach. Why burn bridges with an NFL head coach? I don't blame Mangini at all for not taking Crabtree - they already have a top 5 receiver that they can't trade.

I'm not the biggest Mangini fan but he didn't do anything wrong here.

:ugh:

The premise wasn't that he didn't draft Crabtree. Mangini went out of the way to publicly let it be known that he didn't like Crabtree.

Leach is an outspoken guy to begin and very passionate about his program and players. Just a reaction in trying to be protective of both.

....as an aside....I WILL NEVER GIVE MANGINI THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT FOR ANYTHING. He has a history of trying to bring people down.

Let's clarify a few things here. Here's the quote from the article.

Meanwhile, Leach said that Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini is to blame for former Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree falling to the 10th pick in the first round. Reports out of Cleveland said that the Browns didn't like Crabtree's attitude when he visited the team prior to the draft.

1) OP says it's because the Browns didn't draft him. Not entirely accurate.
2) You say it's because Mangini "went out of the way to publicly let it be known that he didn't like Crabtree". That's not true. We don't know if it was Mangini at all. He's got a GM, you know. It's a report that says they didn't like his attitude and it could have come from a ST coach for all we know.

So ripping Mangini here is like blaming the crazy lady for the drought. If the Browns don't like a player they have every right to not pick him, and if other teams are so fickle as to not draft a guy because of a report (Pats fans know all about the reliability of Sports reporting), then it's those teams' fault, not Mangini's. It's not like he had a vested interest in seeing Crabtree fall.

Ergo, Leach is an idiot.

Some more unintentional comedy.

Leach said Crabtree isn't a "diva."
"My definition of a diva is someone who's loud and self-absorbed," Leach told reporters. "Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I've seen. ... Let's see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."

And what about self-absorbed? Maybe it got edited out, but the guy can still very well fit his own coach's definition of a diva. :ugh: Leach should think before he talks.

Even more craziness, Harrell signed on with the Browns, so now his ex-coach wishes the non-divas have a horrible season!!

The eye-opener for me in that article is that he attacked the Texas A&M coaches and maybe--more subtly--the Cowboys and McGee.

How many borderline Texas Tech guys are not going to taken next year after this tirade against Mangina?

Even if they weren't the target I would think that other teams would have second thoughts about taking a guy from his school after the way he blew up on Manginan...

Right, because NFL teams love to alienate college coaches. It happens all the time. Really, Mangina & Co. was just the 19th of 26 NFL teams to make such comments on the record about Crabtree. I think the Patriots called him a 'doodiehead' on ESPN.

"Open mouth, instert foot"

"Close mouth, take shut"

Someone take the mic away from him before he ruins the program
