Our old friend Willy McGinest is without work coincidentally at the same time Romeo is. Always a favorite of BB, I wonder if he has enough in the tank to be the mentor/pass rusher/role player again for us. He will be ALOT cheaper, he knows the position, shoot he INVENTED it for BB. The fact that he hasnt announced his retirement could be suspicious. No, he isnt as sexy as Peppers/Taylor but is certainly a BB type. Offer Romeo a job too while we're at it,lol. Think he can coach DBs??

I would love to have Willie back.

Romeo too.

8 sacks in three years. 37 years old. Let's get Curtis Martin back while we're at it.

Willie is to old, Id rather ease Romeo back into action.

It would be too embarrassing to watch Willie get cut from the team again. The guy don't have much left in the tanks. At best he might be a run down specialist. Definitely not a starter at this point.

Can we get Willie to retire and join to COACH the outside linebackers?

This is a little unfair. I think Willie could help us in many ways besides the sack department. Sure he's lost some speed but he still has his strength and football instinct.

Why not Willie you ask??

Well let's see...

- He's so old he knew the Burger King when he was still a Prince.

- His ability to rush the QB at this point in his career is equivalent to that of his old DE counter part Chris Slade.

- Vegas odds would have the line set @ Brady -30 if they were to have a foot race tomorrow.

Listen... I love Willie as much as the next guy. I've cheered for him from the moment we drafted him, until the moment he cleared out his locker @ Gillette. Heck, I even cheered him as he left the field as a Brown when he came back here in '07.

That said... Big Mac is done. He had a career he can be proud of, and we will all remember him fondly. I would much rather the Pats bring back Rosie Colvin for another shot. He might still have a little gas in the tank, and if he is fully recovered from the foot injury, he can probably still get after the Quarterback. I wouldn’t mind seeing him play in rotation with the young guys.

willy mac is one of my all time fav patriots but at this point i think even woods is better then him at OLB right now he dont have the speed any more the pats are trying to go younger at LB thats why they just give vrabel to KC they are going for more speed on D

Willy? Then why did they trade Vrabs? As slow as Vrabel looked last year, he would still beat Willie in a race. :D

why does everyone think that some that played for us could be a coach.. He would rather hang out with snoop dog in La, Because Mcginnist was a dog when Pete Caroll was here

Willie said it wasn't about the money, then he got poor RAC to funnel him another $9M for nothing to bankroll his recording business into retirement. He's now trying to cultivate media opportunities (although at a time when those are shrinking due to a bad economy...).

Football is now part of Willie's history.

Has he done anything to indicate that he would even make it as a coach?

I'm not so sure with him, I think there are other guys who are close to retirement who would be better suited for the job.

Or was it Caroll's system that messed him up then?

He did better before and after Carroll left...

Anyway he's too old and slow for the team's needs. They need someone with speed to play OLB and who will come at a lower price...that's not him.

Why not Lawrence Taylor? Greg Lloyd? Kevin Greene?
