talking about the draft

He's on now.

Drop down was because it was good value (unlike what he was telling to Mayock, which is why I called it blowing smoke)

Flatly denying that he ever called Jacksonville about that #8 pick. Says that they initiated every call.

Said the trade with Jacksonville thing was BULL.

Refuting the idea that there was nobody worth drafting at #23, but it was a case of getting better value by trading down - especially to pick up two more early picks next year.

Talking about the top 5-6 picks and saying that it's the finances that kill the trades. Nothing shocking there. Many sellers, no buyers, which is why the Jets got a good deal.

Says he heard from others that Jacksonville initiated calls and was shopping #8 for the last six weeks. BB was emphatic that the Pats had no interest.

Lack of 'elite' type players is preventing those top 5 trades because the money is too much and moving up there isn't warranted for good, but not 'elite' prospects.

Says it made sense for Cleveland to trade down since they weren't picking a QB, and it also made sense for the Jets as they got good value compared to the value chart.

Says the guard they took can play all 3 spots and will compete for actual playing time.

The tackle is a "mountain of a man", physically developed about as much as he's going to, can play both tackle spots.

Surprised Butler fell, thinking Butler, Smith and Davis were the top 3 corners (Smith being #3).

Side note:
Pass this nugget on to Broncos fans, and some Patriots fans, who are ripping the Broncos trade for Smith.

Says there weren't a lot of risky picks for the Patriots (more smoke here, or he's playing with 'a lot', because he has to know better).

edit: Ok, he 'clarified'. Tate's surgery isn't something novel, and he means that there is plenty of history on the players, unlike what was available for Cassel. So he was playing with 'risky' as opposed to 'a lot'.

Says he was surprised Butler was there but felt he needed to trade up from 47 to 40 or Pats would miss out

Says Tate can work the slot.

Shockingly, he did not really work the details of Tate's rehab.

Maybe his leg can be replaced by the same surgeon who got Brady his bionics.

Tate more of a X rcvr rather than Y but has versatility to play both positions

UDFAs have a lot of back and forth, with agents bouncing things from team to team. Contracts mean nothing until its actually signed because the player can always change his mind.
