PFW in Progress -- horrible

The funny thing is, when Casale was on the show, he was the most popular guy on there. All the emails would be pro Casale, wanting his opinion on every thing etc
Now, you guys may have hated him the intire time, but i find it really funny that once he left and wrote a dumb column, every guy on the internet that listens to the show says he hated him.

PFW in progress is a great podcast. If you don't like it, turn it off.

Gee, I don't know why I didn't think of that (slapping forehead).

Actually, I did turn it off this afternoon. Right after they spent 45 minutes debating whether Crable's legs are too skinny. It was unbearable.

I find them good when they are actually talking about football; I especially like Paul Perrilo, but they spend too much time talking about who's buying them lunch, people's sexual preference and other inane topics.

people asked for his opinion a lot because he pretended to know a lot and had confidence in saying what he said (and he's a cowboys fan and not a pats homer, so we got less biased info). truth is that he doesn't know anything more than the average fan, and now we're okay in accepting that because we feel no remorse in holding back (because of what he did).

and plenty of people expressed how they didn't like him while he was on the show. It just wasn't vitriolic like it can be now.

I was never a fan, those guys that were fans apparently dont listen to the show anymore..

If you want to make the show better, why dont you email in really deep questions and ask them? Iam sure if you email in really great football questions you will lead them to really great football talk.

I'm actually a really big fan of the show, listen to it every Tuesday and Thursday, but I found there draft coverage to be awful this year, particularly on day 2. I have no problem with them questioning BB's picks, but they were on for 3 hours today and McKenzie was drafted about 2 minutes before they came on and they probably spent 30 seconds talking about him and then argued about Vollmer for the rest of the show. There was no analysis of any of the players, it was just whining that the players they liked didnt get picked.

Eric pretty much sulked the whole show and seemed to believe that he had better scouting abilities then the rest of the NFL because of all the players that were dropping in the draft, according to the draft publications like Pro Football Weekly. He never seemed to clue in that it wasn't just the Pats passing on players like Duke Robinson and Jamon Meridith, but the entire league was passing on them - obviously the draft publications were off in there analysis of these players.

I couldn't disagree more. They're honest, funny, willing to be critical of the team - just great.
I agree, I listen to them at work all the time and I love hearing them argue over stupid things.

I listen to it for the entertainment factor, if you're looking for hardcore insight in to the Pats, yeah don't look here. But I find it entertaining. The only thing I don't really like is how they pick on Eric Scalavino (sp?) all the time. I'm not like a huge fan of him or anything but that part of it is getting a bit old.

I finally had to turn it off as they entered the second hour of arguing about frickin' Vollmer.

Now, I don't know much about football, but I follow the Pats closely enough to know that the right side of the offensive line has been a chinese fire drill due to injuries and that nobody has ever really won the RT job. Who knows what Vollmer's evenual role will be (starter? quality backup?), but I certainly don't find it shocking that the Pats drafted a 6 foot 7 inch 312 pound right tackle for Dante's O-line academy.

I got the sense those knuckleheads read the word "developmental" in Mel Kiper's draft guide and for the next three hours it was like a dog with a bone.

Wow. I'm shocked to hear the level of derision people have about a show I find not only enjoyable but incredibly informative - just in a different, IMO better, way than is typical. I see PFW as a chance to hang out with some of goofiest, but oddly bright, friends, who have canny insights and a unique, inside perspective on the Patriots. For a broadcast that originates from the team's official website, I find it impressively and surprisingly willing to criticize. Some of you sound like you take it, and perhaps yourselves, a little too seriously.

PFW rocks. And, as someone said before, if you don't like it, probably it's best to turn it off and listen to something awful like EEI.

The guys at PFW in Progress provide the best, most insightful knowledge of the team with the ability to also be critical. They're Patriot-specific draft coverage is unparalled and well-informed. If you don't like their humor i understand, but at least give their football knowledge its proper respect.

If they had any they'd get it. They'd also probably be working somewhere else. They stay because of job security. Kraft isn't nearly as into accountability where the media arm is considered. And the resentment they harbor for BB, who barely tolerates them, is nearly palpable at times. None of them want to be seen as working for a franchise PR vehicle, which is exactly what PFW is supposed to be. So their "mediot" salvation is Kraft allows them to appeal to the same stereotypical target demographic as WEEI, the passionate fan for whom nothing is ever good enough. The saving grace for WEEI is they get access to the guests who actually do know the game and can bring some balance to their blather. I'll take Fred and Steve on Patriot Mondays with a grain of salt over this crew playing disgruntled fanboy anyday. At least they played the game. They spend more time talking about each other at PFW than the flash boys and co hosts on WEEI...LOL

Why people readily equate criticism with knowledge is beyond me...

I listen to the Tues and Thur show every week through the off season and almost all of the shows during the season (and by the way really appreciate the hosts and the ability to access some Patriots talk from here in SoCal). So, by and large I am a fan of PFW. I have really enjoyed draft editions in past years. All that said, I found this morning's show annoying and turned it off.

That's because they were all written by him under an assumed name!!! :D

(Anyone on this board in October 2006 gets that joke!).

Do you have a disclosure you'd like to make?

I just want to say that this PFW in Progress web radio show is utterly and completely unlistenable. It's like WEEI, only even more mindless. I'm amazed these guys can evenlearn to tie their shoes.

They talk endlessly about the soap opera that is the Red Sox front office?

im sorry but PFW in progress is like the best radio show ever!

"Thanks for reading. Hope we made the weekend a little more enjoyable and informative.

By the way, the PFW in Progress Radio Show is getting torn to shreds on the PatsFans.com forum. Guess you can’t please everyone. Hey, at least they are talking about us. If you like us, head on over and defend us. If you hate us, head on over and shred us.
"

Yo Andy et. al.,
Perhaps we're a bit too stridently critical but it might be useful for PFW producers to realize that a segment of the potential listening audience doesn't care for sophomoric off topic in joke humor on and on. And secondly, fixation on one aspect of the draft e.g. Vollmer as developmental to the exclusion of other interesting topics may not be a ratings booster. Just a couple thoughts based on what I read here. I was not listening.
