Ellis Hobbs calls trade shocking

I think with that situation [in New England] there are a lot of guys that are coming up that are going to need to be paid. I think it has kind of moved from that echelon where there is a lot of guys out there who are not going to take the [bottom] dollar for the win. Guys really want to get what they deserve and each one of those guys that are coming up in the next year or so deserve every dollar they are going to get.

And there you have it.

Especially, some of the situations that I’ve been in as far as playing through injuries, a torn shoulder, a torn groin all of the way throughout the season, and this and that. To take some of the blows that I did from the area and the community and to put it on the line day in and day out when I know some other guys were not doing that and to get the money you get, you are definitely not happy with it.

I don't count that as whining, because he went on immediately to point out that he makes a lot of money even so. :)

A good interview, Philly is getting a good kid.

If he thinks our fans are tough... he's gonna be really shocked when he gets to Philly.

Good luck, Ellis. Thanks for everything.

Yup, he addressed a couple different perspectives and showed some nice balance in his response.

He'll have McNabb to take the heat off him. :p

I agree. I really liked Ellis. I thought he was a very solid player. He will be missed ( by some of us).

:ditto: They eat their young. Best wishes to Ellis, I think he'll do well there.

Yep. I had him pegged a while back as being one of a long list of mediocre-starter Patriots DBs who wouldn't be resigned for market rates (Tebucky Jones, Eugene Wilson, Randall Gay). But being a legit starting NFL DB is nothing to be ashamed of.

He's really going to thrive in that defense because they get to the passer all the time. Best wishes to him against his NFC opponents.

Blows from the community. Poor baby. Ellis Sobbs.

Good luck to Ellis. Always liked him. Good kid who played hurt when others haven't.

Best wishes to Ellis and a thank you from a diehard fan for your playing hurt through injuries. Good luck for you and your young family!

Didn't read the interview yet...but the excerpts...I like Ellis..thought he did play through injuries..and gave 110%...BUT..I didn't think also he would take hometwon money..and knew that most likely he would be gone after this season. And really it was a numbers game here...and really, his was up..unfortunately. I wish him well..miss his spirit..and wish him the best in Phillie. (especially against the NYG and Dall) Surprisingly..I at times liked Phillie...before McNabb's whining and Specter's being a total jerk... SO....good luck!!

I find it shocking.I just hope this move wont hurt this team.

I read a year or so ago that Hobbs didn't like Boston and wouldn't be re-signing. I would have liked to think we could have gotten more, even with him just having a year left, but with the FA signees and draftees (this year and last), he won't be missed IMO. As the players say . . . it's a business.

The savings from trading Hobbs will be enough to pay all the rookies, especially super-stud Ornberger.

The comment he made about some players are getting paid and are always hurt, gee wonder who he is refering to..

No loss for me, he was a ok Cb, nothing special for me..
