Didn't care too much for the early day one draft picks? - Here are 20 reasons why you should be aware of the talent this team has picked up in the 3rd round or later in Patriots history ...

The 20 gems include...

2003 - 5th C- Dan Koppen
2003 - 4th CB- Asante Samuel
2002 - 4th DE- Jarvis Green
2002 - 7th WR- David Givens
2000 - 6th QB- Tom Brady
1996 - 3rd LB- Tedy Bruschi
1995 - 3rd RB- Curtis Martin
1993 - 8th WR- Troy Brown
1992 - 8th RB- Sam Gash

that's an impressive list! it's those day 2 gems that make a good draft great!

I don't get why people list Kaczur when talking about steals and such. He's mediocre if you ask me and we need to upgrade.

For a mid rounder he has been servicable and worthy of being a starter, not saying he is great but there are 2nd and 1st rounders from other teams OL drafted around the same year as Nick that are probably unemployed right now.

Well, BB clearly doesn't agree with you about Kaczur. Because if he did. LaVoir would have been starting at RT at the end of last season and not Kaczur. Also, there are stats to back up that Kaczur isn't nearly as bad as people think..

BTW, if Kaczur is a mediocre RT, that puts him as the 16th best starting RT in the league. That's pretty good in reality. especially since you can't have ELITE players at every position.

3rd round starter = success

This is indeed a very impressive list.

:ditto:

why do people hate Kaczur so bad? No one evers *****es about Billy Yates, but Kaczur is like the poor kid the bullies picked on in school. People on this board just love to pick on the guy (and Seymour), yet they never back it up with anything other then their opinion.

It's a pattern of ridiculousness.

Graham was tagged as a bust while he was here, but once we let him go to Denver it was as if he was the best thing ever. Asante used to get a lot of hate until he played in a few nationally televized games. After that, the critics all targeted BB for letting him walk. Cassel was a victim, too. David Patten. And early in his career, Kevin Faulk was persona non grata... back in his fumblrooskie days.

Hobbs still gets a lot of hate. Moroney, too. Dave Thomas and Watson and Wheatley. They're all good players that fans have decided to hate. It's always someone.

Lately, people have eased up on Light, although he's taken fire before, too. And then went to the pro-bowl. That's when the dumbfans stopped whining about getting a real LT.

Some people just love to ***** about things they know nothing about, as if they're experts.

Remember all the criticism over the Deon Branch trade? Who got the better end of that?
And trading Bledsoe within the division? So many haters.
Today's draft reminded me of the Mankins pick, which was widely criticized.
And trading up for Ty Warren, which was widely criticized.

blah, blah, blah. Too many dumb opinionated fans spewing talkradio trash. The record speaks for itself.

heh...bullseye.....sometimes I think "Steve From Fall River" has 10 different handles here

What "names" are still ou there ? Not that BB chases name brands - see : SeaBass.

He's Canadian.

reason 21 -QB Matt Cassel

Exactly!!!

I think the third round has a lot of interesting opportunities for BB. I would not be surprised if he already has a couple of trades lined up.

I still remember my amazement about how upset people were that BB gave up a seventh rounder in addition to the second round pick to get Welker instead of using a poison pill contract.

Most people aren't happy unless they are miserable.

I'm looking forward to the 19th round. We could use a power back.

1973- 14th NT- Ray Hamilton
Wasn't Sugar Bear Hamilton the guy that slapped Kenny Stabler upside the head on an incomplete pass on 4th and 18, maybe costing the Pats a super bowl in 1976? Of course, bad call Ben Dreith.

The list does show the importance of day 2 though, thanks for posting it.
