Yea, why couldn't we have kept McDaniels who traded next year's first for a second. BB has never done anything drafting, no matter what every football expert states.

Please try to understand that trades require two participants. You don't get what you think a player is worth, you can only get what someone is offering.

If the offer isn't high enough, you can

1) stand firm and keep the player,
1) trade him for what is being offered, or
3) wait and hold out for a better deal.

Once you understand that 1) and 3) weren't options, you can understand why they took 2) and you will stop scratching your head and you can then smack your forehead with your palm and say, "Oh!, I get it."

Its been a pleasure reading all of your analysis and insight.

Through all of the discussion about the draft, I have never seen it written anywhere that Drew Rosenhaus said during a radio interview that "the Pats turned down the #3 for Cassell". Didn't Denver turn down the #1 choice from Detroit for Cutler?.

Now that day 1 of the 2009 draft has been completed, in retrospect would you want the #3 choice as a bargaining chip? There is no-one (like a Seymour, Moss, or McGinest) that I would like to add to the roster with the #3 choice and the probability of getting stuck with the pick was extremely high.

I agree. The Pats could have held out and maybe got more than what KC offered. Or maybe not, and then they'd be screwed heading into the FA period.

Any thread comparing cassell to brady is just awful. Brady is twice the qb that fraud could ever hope to be.
