Evan Silva, NFL Draft Preview
4/22/2009
BJ Raji is a huge surprise, with no pun on his physical size. Considering the draft lacks depth at the nosetackle position and Raji is far and away the best at the position, it is almost obvious.
Silva makes a good argument for drafting Sanchez. I'm aboard with the Seahawks pick and off the wagon with the Crabtree to Browns pick. Crabtree seems to be taking a hit.
I guess Curry replaces Mike Peterson in Jacksonville. Either way, they will probably feel fortunate to see him drop that low. With Maclin on the board, I'm sure they will take all the time they are given.
Why do the Packers take Maybin again?
Bills luck out just as much as the Jags according to this mock draft. Bye, bye Peters. Hello Oher!
Matthews was a forgettably, obvious pick for the Texans.
Good for the Jets. Too bad they still don't have a decent QB to toss the ball to Maclin.
Geez. I like mocks where Gilbert goes late. Smith to the Dolphins makes some sense. I guess they don't think Darius Butler can cover Randy Moss or Owens.
Nicks to the Ravens isn't going to happen. Find me someone to put money down on that because it doesn't click. And if they did, I don't see it panning out. Better continue trying to land Anquan Boldin.
Bills land Oher and Pettigrew. Offense is starting to come together now that Evans isn't going to be doubled, but too bad Lynch is suspended.
Browns screwed themselves by letting the Edwards trade effect their draft selections. I'd take Orakpo and Britt if I were the Browns. If the trade fell through, you still have Orakpo rather than being stuck with two WRs (assuming the trade happens on draft day).
I still want to know what the Cards do with Edge James. At first thought, I think he should go to Houston and split carries.
Steelers can probably keep Davis in line just like I think the Pats or Colts could keep Harvin in line. Davis has huge value right here and Darius Butler gets a pass to round 2. Reminds me of when they took Heath Miller late in the first round because he had talent and was nearly top of his position.
