I pose the following question. Are the Patriots the fastest Offensive club in the NFL? I think so.

The Patriot's believe in mobile offensive linemen who can pull, get out on screens and get to the second level for blocking. There is not a more mobile G in the League than Steven Neal. They are at least above average as a fast Offensive line.

At WR Moss and Galloway are two of the fastest men in the NFL. Even now Galloway may be the fastest NFL player as he was a few years ago. At TE, Watson is one of the fastest, if not th fastest outright, of the TEs in the League. I don't think there is any team that has such a three some as its starting receivers. As an aside, Welker may not be 40 fast, but he has to be the quickest WR in the slot, in the League.

At RB, Laurence Maroney, has unusual speed for a RB. It made him a first round draft pick. The other RBs are not as fast but Taylor and Faulk combine quickness and power.

Any one care to comment?

How can that possibly be? For years all I have heard is that the Pats are old and slow!

Not sure but I'd rather have a slower RB who actually plays and a slower TE that can actually catch and is not known for his speed. This ain't no track meet.

On defense. That is changing too! :D

Re: ARe the Pat's the fastest Team?

I don't think they are the fastest team although I don't know who is. Moss and Galloway are fast, but not as fast as they used to be. It still makes them faster than most WRs out there, but not at the top anymore. Welker is more quick than fast (if you understand what I mean).

Re: ARe the Pat's the fastest Team?

We have the fastest TE in the league and that helps us how?

You don't think that having Watson out in the pattern puts pressure on opposing linebackers?

Let's talk when Watson lives up to his track #s.
It doesn't put that much pressure on them since his hands are suspect.

Re: ARe the Pat's the fastest Team?

A wide receiver would put more pressure, but the quick answer is that I don't think that Watson puts the kind of pressure that top TE should put on linebackers.

This year we have Moss, Galloway and Welker in the slot. We have Faulk or Taylor or Morris or Maroney out of the backfield. A more sure-handed and slower TE would add much more than Watson does.

You think teams will just let him roam free because he'll drop a few passes like Randy Moss and Chad Johnson will in a season? Seriously?

Don't forget a QB who can juke Brian Urlacher out of his shoes!

I think someone may have already said something, but that was always in regard to the D and I have to honestly say that it was a well-deserved criticism.

oh... he's a decoy?

he's doing a good job:D

Re: ARe the Pat's the fastest Team?

Watson's the best decoy in the game. Problem is, he doesn't mean to be.

Whoa man. Think about it.
Daeus Irae has a great point-when Ben Watson splits out he's actually faster than some recievers and he's a good target.
He definately puts pressure on the linemen!

35
40
35
29

Those are his reception totals over the past 4 seasons. How is that a decoy? They certainly aren't astronomical numbers, but it's more than 2 receptions per game.

just to add to the OPs premise a 3-4 defense can be faster than 4-3 as there is one less de-linemen.

I care to comment.

Obviously we will be focusing on building speed on defense. Defense is my bag, but...

Offensively-we are one of the faster teams out there.
Having fast players and being able to score faster than the opponents are two different things....and time management is key (don't want the defense on the field too much)

Fred Taylor will be an upgrade at RB.
Kevin will still be a hybrid Back/Rec.
LoMo will show up this year strong
Morris is fast and strong-Running game looks great.

A strong/healthy O-line that can keep the gorillas off Brady.
Oline is VERY important this year.

Brady's timing w/ recievers will be crucial and he's working hard right now to decimate the upcoming defenses....I'm very anxious to see this years offensive onslaught!
It will be very FAST!
We will spread that field and pick teams apart.

I see turnovers and our new young defense putting points up as well.

Except, that the last 5 years or so, they've had one of the youngest defenses in the NFL. Slow, maybe, old, no. Tedi Bruschi can't make the entire D old by himself.
