Jeard that from teh BB PC....it was a good notice...not a surprise....

This from Mike Reiss:

Pierre Woods signs tender - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com

No big surprise. Last Friday was the deadline for teams to make offers to RFAs. Not a single one got an offer. From that point on it was either sign the tender or long term deal for Woods.

From that point it was either sign the tender or long term deal or have the tender withdrawn and become a UFA post draft or have the team re-extend the tender if not signed by June 1 and if you still don't sign it risk the team re-tendering you at 110% of your 2008 salary ($445K in Pierre's case) alternatively.

But certainly no big surprise.

*flash backs to Pierre getting outmuscled by a little running back for a looseball in the Superbowl vs the Giants. O well.

Not really exciting news,Woods has not produced much yet to make us say GRRREEEEAAATTTTT news!! - The only thing is he knows the system,I feel the same way about Alexander but its all we got now so...

No way this guy starts at OLB. This guy is a back up for life! The OLB position is either going to Peppers, draft pick or Crable.

Dont rule out Banta-Cain who may have enough over those guys to make the team and start

TBC was just starting to show something before SF got him - He did not adapt to SFs defense and thus looks like he will be back and hopefully continue where he left off.

Crabel who cannot even get on the field before going on IR. Woods/TBC atleast where in the active 45 in their first year if i remember.

peppers is not coming here and also how come he gets the spot when he have never covered any one. I will use AD and colvin [after injury] in interviews they both mentioned it took them a year to learn the system and play LB. yet peppers is going to learn faster a new position and start how come.

I think if peppers or OLB is drafted high you will create the first bust thread by game 6 .

Gotta let that stuff go, man. We're on to the draft, camp, and before you know it--the new season will be here. With that said, I need to take my own advice too:D

When Banta Cain was in New England, I'll admit he had some games where he played well as a situational pass rusher. However, Banta Cain is now garbage! He's a one trick pony rushing the passer; if his spin move doesn't work, he's screwed. Also, the guy can't set the edge against the run. He will be lucky to make the team.

First, Crable has shown in last year's preseason games that he has more talent than Tully Banta-Cain and Pierre Woods. It's only at matter of time until Crable passes these chumps on the depth chart and starts at OLB. The only way this doesn't happen is unless the Pats trade for Peppers.

Speaking of Peppers, why wouldn't Peppers automatically start after you just traded for him? You really think he would sit behind Banta-Cain or Woods?

Nobody was going to give up a 2nd rounder for Woods. Not a big surprise he returns to the fold.

Woods is gonna be awesome this year - for Carolina.

Incompetence?

He was replaced as an emergency in a playoff game with another nonentity.

You need to re-listen to the tape buddy. He said Pierre is ready to go for us, not to go to Carolina...

Pierre woods is the underrated good guy. I feel that he is this years' Matt Cassel. The dumb critics wonted to crucify Cassel in the pre-season, and I said he is paying his dues and delivering. Given the chance, he blossomed. Pierre is going do the same.

The only reason he wasn't a first or second round draft pick, as he has that kind of athletic ability, was because Lloyd Carr bad mouthed him. Carr said Pierre was lazy. Maybe it was an attempt to motivate him. I think it worked.

I'm sorry, but you don't lead your team three years running in ST tackles if your a lazy bum. Belchick realized what he had in Cassel; and he said so, while only a few exceptions like myself believed. Bill says the same of Woods, and only a few exceptions believe him. Personally I think it was Woods coming on, that made it possible for Belichick to dump Vrabel and send him off with a big pay check.

I'm somewhat in the middle here. I do expect Woods to start. However, if Belichick liked him as much as is stated, a long-term contract would have been reached.

Keep dreaming. What's more likely to happen, Woods becomes a good player or the Pats trade for Peppers?

That's all I think about when I hear his name. I think of how that one play changed the course of history. I get sick when I think of that play and the lack of heart showed by Woods. I really hope he moves on.

So in 1 preseason you were able to get how crable is talented while playing 3rd stringers who are not in NFL this year ?.He did not play with the first team or against the first team once in preseason and came only against the 3rd group who are mostly not in NFL now.I am arguing that you are saying starting line vs woods is making them chumps but 3rd stringers vs crabel makes him superior..

I am not asking if peppers will start ? i am asking is how he will replace LB like vrabel
vrabel - plays DE which peppers can do
RB - Pattern vrabel reads and picks up the RB coming out to receive- how are you assuming he will read these perfectly and drop in coverage.
Blocking TE - When some teams send blocking TE into pattern they are expected to be picked up by the OLB - So you think peppers understanding of playing behind the line is good enough to do this.
FB- some teams similar to ours send FB and RB in no huddle to move them around to force a OLB to pick them. do you call a timeout so you can put a coverage guy in their ?

I am asking how do you know
peppers can read plays behind LOS and make plays
How he is coverage against RB,TE and FB

I am not being absurd just want to see some proof of hos he is playing behind the LOS. AD and colvin in my example were LB and it took them a year so how come peppers from DAY 1 going to do this in a position
