From the Herald blog:

The Patriot’s nose tackle, who is due to become a free agent following the upcoming season, is pleased how talks have gone of late. He’s confident he’s going to remain in a Patriots uniform for some time to come.

”I believe it’ll work out. I’m just going to let it run its course and play out,” Wilfork said from his Florida home. ”I know they have the draft coming up. They have stuff to take care of. As long as we’re on the same page, I don’t care that we can’t do anything right now. I understand that. We’ve been in contact the last month or two.

”I’m very happy with where we’re at. They’re happy with where we’re at,” he went on. ”Hopefully we’ll get something done, whenever that may be. I’m in no rush. I’m going to give them time to handle whatever they need to handle. When the time is right, that’s when it’s going to happen. I’m just looking forward to another great season. They know how I feel about it. They know I want to be a Patriot. I want to start my career as a Patriot, and finish as one. I’ve said it from Day One. I meant that sincerely. So I think it’ll work out. I think everything will work for the best.”

EDIT: Damn, I screwed up the title and made the team plural.

God I hope so. He's possibly the most important Patriot after TB.

Unlike some people, I don't feel Seymour is done, and would like to see him stay in a Pats uniform. BUT, if i had to choose between them, I want Vince. He is the core of the engine. I just wish they would leave him in more.

I hope Vince doesn't do an Asante. I think he was smiling and saying on TV that he was confident that a deal with the Pats was in place and the Pats didn't address the CB position in free agency at that time. Then, Asante, became stubborn and held out. This is based on my best recollection. Go Pats.:singing:

I am glad to hear he is so confident about the deal. It could have gone the other way entirely.

I agree. It's encouraging to hear this from Vince. :)

Wilfork is not demanding Haynesworth money but Seymour probably will.

Don't they always say that before a big contract signing? I remember Samuel saying the same thing, but obviously the Patriots couldn't make him happy.

Encouraging news from Vince :) Everything I've ever heard or seen from him truly rings with sincerity and he really seems to love it here. He and his family love it here; I'm just not seeing any comparison between him and Asante at all except that Asante also said he liked it here. JMO but I believe that's where the comparison ends.

I'm really happy about this article. It mostly shows that the team did the smart thing and let Vince know he is in their plans and that he will be taken care of.

Considering that his wife is his agent, I don't think he would have said some of these things without her OK, because they could theoretically impact the amount of money he will bring in at contract-time. If she's happy with the communication they've gotten from the team (related to quotes from past articles), then this is all moot, though.

One less thing to worry about.

Seymour is already making haynesworth money. His cap hit was 9+M this year. Haynesworth's contract is like 12M a year. (its 4-48, not this 6-100 that they're reporting)

Seriously, his previous deal was a bigger % of the cap than Haynesworth's deal is. He's the best 3-4 DE in football by a huge margin, hes worth it.

Seymour might be the most underappreciate patriot by fans on this website.
