If the guy wants to be traded he better get that tender signed before the draft especially if he wants to play for the patriots. BB will find a rusher or even two in the draft if peppers doesn't get things rolling along.

What's the chances you guys think he signs his tender this week before the draft, I mean he has to if he wants to be traded right?

Yup. Zilch.

Promise me you will let this go after Sunday...

Do what Bill does, focus on the players on OUR roster.

A player can sign the tender if a trade agreement is in place. I agree with Mo, if he's not traded in the next week he won't be coming to the Pats.

I say he signs it and he is traded to the Pats. I don't see any draft pick that can come in right away and play OLB.

But aren't the Panthers and Patriots not allowed to even talk trade because the player is not under contract?

At this point, with the draft picks and CAP space he's going to eat up, I would rather keep our picks and develop a young edge rusher and keep our 4 day one picks. He can stay where he is.

Getting pep for the right price would be great, I'm all good even if we don't get him and just use the draft to fill the olb need. But yeah if he's not traded before or during the draft we can all wash our hands of him.

If Peppers were traded, the patriots would need to free up considerable cap monies.

At this point, I don't even care to even think about Peppers unless something significant happens. Even with the talk about trading players, the media seems to have moved onto Boldin and Braylon Edwards and have given up all together on a Peppers trade.

Which the reason why I don't think it will happen. We would have to cut some players, even if we restructure contracts.

He has performed well as a DE, but is he proven enough to play OLB with what they would have to sacrifice? I think they just draft well. It would be a done deal, if we weren't so tight against the cap, though.

When it comes to the cap there are many ways to what you have to do that would be the least of my worries. I'm not sure Peppers wants to leave Carolina Belichik all but told him what to do if wants to play for the Pats.

They can use Peppers agent as a middle man. The 3 parties can execute the tender signing, and then trade, all at the same time.

Amen, Mo. One of the better comments I've seen about this subject in a while. I've been with you since day one.

If you think bill only focuses on players on our roster you have no clue what you are talking about

Bill is on record saying he will not take part in that kind of agent engineered negotiation. Deals with players who have to be signed to a new contract can take days to work out if they ever do because teams want to work out and talk to the player and make sure he's a fit, conduct a physical, make sure the contract is a fit within their compensation structure and and first and foremost before investing that time make sure the compensation they are trading is the best deal they could get. If BB can't first talk with Fox or Hurney he isn't going to talk trade at all.

So realistically unless you hear Peppers has signed his tender by the middle of this week there isn't going to be a trade involving the NEP... Which is not to say he won't be traded because there are a couple of teams who could easily absorb that tag even in an 11th hour draft day deal. But Carolina has absorbed it for the bulk of FA and absent a high first they have no way of remotely replacing him on the roster at this juncture - which makes it unlikely they trade him at all.

Probably by cutting several veteran players.

Can't they sign him to an offer sheet if they are willing to give

up two #1 draft picks?

That's exactly what he does. He moves on. That's why he's inclined to put players facing questionable rehabs on IR sooner than later - he doesn't want distractions or questions or players anticipating a savior or guys assuming they're just filling in temporarily... He prepares to go to war with the troops at hand, period. He doesn't daydream about what ifs...

Brady would have been on the sideline cheerleading if Belichick wanted him to. He said no way, you'd just be a distraction and every time Cassel makes a mistake the camera will pan to you...with BB it's out of sight (and not at my disposal) out of mind.

Sure. When was the last time someone did that? There is a reason you know...

Well put Mo. I figured that was the reason we didn't see Brady all the time, as I defended him not being there to support the Pats from the onslaught of Patriot haters here in San Diego!
