Carucci: Pats remain interested in Peppers

"or somewhere else." Vic is way out on the limb on that one.

Gotta give him credit at least he is willing to go down with the ship

I'll believe it when I see it.

Which is not to say I wouldn't jump for joy:D I mean who wouldn't love JP? Imagine some kind of an announcement like what BB did with Randy-how awesome would that be. We'll see what happens; I'd love to have JP in our line, oman think about the possibilities. The Pats will be ok without him but if we had him... "lights out" :singing:

i hope we dont get peppers the pats would have to give up a 1 or 2 round pick and a lot of money to get him look at AD he was a 10 + sack guy with the ravens he has not done much with us they are better off drafting some fast OLB to rush the passer are passrush will be better next yer any ways with brady back they will be put up 30 plus points a game so teams will have to pass more to keep up

The market for Peppers as a 3-4 OLB has been set by the James Harrison signing at 6 years/$51M+. That's a ton of money, but nowhere near the $16M+ that Peppers will make under the tag. The ball is in Peppers' court. He has effective strangled Carolina from any offseason moves, and they can't move him until he signs the tender. If he is serious about playing for a 3-4 team at OLB then he will eventually have to sign the tender.

I'm sure Carolina is desperate to resolve his situation before the draft, so that they can move forward one way or the other.

Like I said, he will be a Patriot. Get ready.

are you serious, or is this a joke post?

also -- harrison is an established olb and defensive player of the year.
I'd think peppers would command less, although it seems carolina really wants to pay him.
has he ever said why he wants out of carolina so badly?

Some Carolina players have come out and said that Peppers wanted out of Carolina for a while now! He wants out badly!! Something is going down and i think it will be more than just the #34 pick to get him.

"Some Carolina players have come out and said that Peppers wanted out of Carolina for a while now!"

I have heard players who played with Peppers say they don't much about him. He is a loner and doesn't speak much but as long as he played well on the field that was all that mattered to them.

he already turned down a big wad to play there ---- I wonder if he's got some beef w/somebody in that organization.

would you happen to remember the terms of the offer he turned down, carolinatony?

He will also have to take a BIT less money going forward...I don't like his mode of operation..if he's here..only for a year or two and then watch out..he'll be squawking again..NOT sure it's all worth it...

He'll take "a big less" money going forward? Huh? He's due 17M for ONE YEAR. Why is he giving anyone a big discount? He'd be a fool to take much less than a 30M signing bonus and 10M per year.

DEAL BREAKER.

I almost posted the same thing- I'm already sick of Peppers and he's still miles away lol. Drama drama, but a lot of that could be his agent, who knows.

How has he been squawking?

well, like I mentioned above, he already turned down more money than that to stay in carolina.

this whole thing reminds me of a pats draft pick that was just mentioned in another thread --- maybe the 10 worst picks?
guy turns down an offer and plays for minimum, likely thinking he'll get a big deal the following year.
blows out his knee, I believe it was.
comes back next year on a minimum deal and blows out the other knee.

it's a violent sport and if you think one year at 17m is so much better than, say, 4 or 5 at 9m per, then you'd probably be in disagreement w/most of the players in the league.
these dudes hate being franchised.

To get more than the $17M and its earnings, you would need $9M for three years. As you say, the sport is a violent one. The $17M is guaranteed. Even three years of $9M is not.

If most of the players, based on a financial analysis, chose the $9M a year, they need a new agent and financial advisor. There are many other consideration beside the money, but this is a business. Carolina is making business decisions; so will Peppers.

Even given the possibility of injury (which could happen at any time), the highest expected value has to be in taking the $17M and expecting to be a free agent again next year.
