I come here as a fan of the Buffalo Bills for 42 years and I am probably one of the most knowledgeable fans on the Buffalo Bills as I am on 5 different boards and I have had my season tickets since 1971. I have been to New England for games almost every year.

I am not here to fight with Patriots fans and you will find I never engage in rudeness and I follow the guidelines on every board.

I am fairly knowledgeable of the New England Patriots and I understand they are the team to beat in the 2009 season.

This is my plan, have some fun with you guys before the season opener and hopefully develope some friendships here....if that is possible

Please do not judge me before I post some threads here, My intention is to add a little excitement to your board and help me better understand the New England fans.

Oh, on the Bills, we have a lot of holes to fill in the draft and I wish we had 11 selections like the Patriots! LT Jason Peters is probably gone, there are rumors of dumping Marshawn Lynch, and Roscoe Parrish is on the block in Buffalo.

So why are the Patriots a top team from year to year, Better coaching, front office, and they understand how to develop players and receive maximum value in trades, but I think the Patriots should have gotten more for Matt Cassels but sometimes you get what you can before you lose them anyway.

I call em as I see em, and I hope we will have some fun!

Always ready to converse with fans from other teams on this board and I have no problem with Bills fans in particular. Have always thought Jim Kelly was one of the best Quarterbacks the AFL/NFL ever saw and I was really disappointed that he didn't end up with a ring in his time and excellence at the helm of your Bills. Thought he really deserved it. Wanted Levy to get one too, he was a hell of a coach and told it like it was to the "over officious jerks". Welcome aboard.

Look forward to the "excitement." ;)

Just be warned: this is an over-moderated board (by far the most policed messageboard I've ever seen), which can be good and it can be bad. So things that you might think are obviously in good fun, you might find some posters (and even moderators) taking too seriously, so just an FYI. But overall this is a great board. Welcome. :)

I appreciate the heads up and I guess I will need to tone it down.

I attend the Bills game in Port Charlotte Fl on Sundays and we have a lot of Patriots fans there.

We have a real good time together

New England fans are blessed, I would give anything for one Superbowl victory, then I can die in peace

Geez I guess every team has a N## for a fan ... who woulda' thunk it :confused2:

Yes, there are many of us around!

There was a time when I attended every home and away game for 16 years.

Some of the players thought I was a curfew spy for the team (lol)

True story

This is the most policed messageboard you've ever seen? Compared to whom? If you're comparing national message boards where anything goes (which makes them useless), then yes, you have a point. But how abou comparing apples to apples; i.e., one team fan forum to another team fan forum? Have you seen Steelers Fever or Bolt Talk, for example? If somebody comes along and dares to lay out a reasonable explanation as to why their team may have the audacity to beat the Steelers or Chargers, they're immediately banned.

Also keep in mind that with three championships this decade, more trolls are going to arrive here to take their shots at the Pats. For example, other than another division team, who is going to land on a Panthers, Saints, or Bucs fan site and start slinging dirt? And that's not even taking in to account the media-fueled fire known as spygate.

I would imagine that the moderators here have to deal with as many trolls on this site as all other fan forums combined. If they happen to pull the trigger a bit to quickly, as you suggest they might, it's fairly understandable.

Edit: p.s., welcome to the board Slammer! We have a few other Bills fans that post here regularly; always love to read intelligent analysis, viewpoints and discussions from fans of other teams. You'll also see a few Colts, Steelers, Chargers and Jets fans here on a regular basis too.

SLAMMER! What's up? Welcome to the board! :)

I thought I would check out the Patriots board to gain some incite on the 2009 season. The off season is pretty boring and I have little interest in reading about the same old topics over and over, (lol)
Its really refreshing to gain a different prospective on free agency and the draft.

I am sure you guys hate trolls the same as I, so I figured I would be upfront and post as a Bills fan instead of playing that game.

Some of my questions on the Patriots will seem a little boring here , but I do have a few.

#1 How is Tom Brady's knee?

#2 What ever happened to the Julous Peppers deal in New England, seems the media has backed away from that deal.

#3 How much Cap space do the Patriots have?

#4 With 11 picks in the draft, how will the Patriots use them, I would guess they will package picks and move up!

I will be happy to answer any questions on the Bills

#1 How is Tom Brady's knee?

Like Steve Austin (the Bionic Man) it will be better than before, biggger, stronger, faster (OK that's a stretch)...and well braced. Should be just fine unless Gisele does something to injure it between now and camp...

#2 What ever happened to the Julous Peppers deal in New England, seems the media has backed away from that deal.

It was primarily a media created deal, although now that Fox is hinting at a potential impass it may pick up speed for all the good it'll do it for reasons detailed below.

#3 How much Cap space do the Patriots have?

Per our resident capologist Miguel whose cap page is linked at the top of the page approximately $4M (which is just about enough to sign our draft picks, incorporate players 52 and 53 (who don't count in pre season), cover the PS and a small rainy day fund for in season injury replacements.

#4 With 11 picks in the draft, how will the Patriots use them, I would guess they will package picks and move up!

They will likely not draft 11 and could use some to move up or trade one or two away for 2010 picks. I imagine a lot will depend on how the draft falls as it is not top heavy (crap shoot in the top 10) deep draft but reportedly one with lots of mid first and early second round graded talent probably extending into the third. Depends on what they feel they can fit on an already well heeled roster since you can't generally stash that on a PS...

I will be happy to answer any questions on the Bills

Do you honestly think TO can be managed in Buffalo? And on a guaranteed deal when he apparently had no competitive market??? I understand the reasons for taking a shot... but it seems like a risky undertaking given your HC was on the hot seat at the end of 2008 and your situation at QB (nice kid who shows flashes of potential but TO's history is he's eaten pro bowlers for lunch...) let alone if you lose Peters and can't keep him upright...and now with Lynch suspended it could get ugly out of the gate...

Just seems like you guys were trying to do it the right way and after suffering a couple of tough breaks (the QB concussion) and some HC faux pas...it's as if you've lost your nerve mid rebuild and flown into desperation mode...kinda like what the JETS did with Favre last season. More often than not those moves ultimately set you back years...

One thing about Bill beyond his x's and o's acumen that I believe sets him apart is he has the courage of his convictions. Of course it helps to get a ring to reinforce them almost out of the gate. But his conviction was one of the reasons we did. He was able to convince a young essentially blue collar team who lost their face of the franchise #1 $100M QB and replaced him with a 6th round unknown that the whole was better than the sum of it's parts if they just did what they were coached to do. 5-5 became a turning point simply because they hung with the Greatest Show on Turf on the road and he showed them how a few plays better executed would have won that game. They didn't lose another for a long time... He never panics, or succombs to pressure, so neither do his players. Discipline and consistency on and off the field and in their contract dealings. It's why we once again were in position where a backup to a HOF QB could win 11 games playing for the first time since...HS. He was expected to. That was his job... And it was the teams job to rally around him to that end. Even Moss, who essentially came here just to win a ring with Brady...rallied. We may have missed the playoffs in something of a fluke season where 11 wins wasn't enough...but the point is we could still contend.

I just don't see TO rallying teams in the face of adversity. And Jauron seems to feel and wilt under pressure. Which is too bad since I think you guys were otherwise positioned to be the second best team in the AFC. I think Miami was option smoke and mirrors and will return to earth with a thud this season and probably be backpedaling from Noodle to transition to Henne by week 10. At that point Tuna will begin to lose interest and exercise his out clause to go find his next sucker rebuild he won't see through...And I think the JETS are who we think they are. HC genius wannabes with no QB, a skanky GM with no accountability and an owner fixated on the pack page of the NY Post and putting fannies in hefty PSL's. Could be dangerous if they find a QB but the catering to Favre experiment set them back exponentially on offensive development across the board. And their history of ineptitude under Woody's ownership won't end until he sells, if ever. Which is why BB resigned that HC job on a ****tail napkin...

I think you guys are falling victim to the increasingly urgent sense that aging ownership has to do something fast or it may have to face the indignity of being a HOF ownership moving it's team to another venue, or selling out to someone else who will. I just don't see how you're in a sound position to do something fast with TO given the rest of your circumstances...

Terrell Owens is considered a draw card in Buffalo, simply the answer to draw fans for making a very unpopular extension to retain **** Jauron.

Great response, we need to hook up before the 1st game, hopefully we will have more information by then.

Buffalo, unlike the Patriots have a lot of holes to fill!

#1 How is Tom Brady's knee?
As you probably are already well aware, the Pats under Bill Belichick are notoriously quiet about releasing any information on injuries to any of their players. From what we have heard Brady attended the first off-season workout and expects to start in week one.

#2 What ever happened to the Julous Peppers deal in New England, seems the media has backed away from that deal.
Personally I never thought Peppers would come here due to the cap hit, although that was not the popular opinion. We haven't heard much of anything on Peppers the last couple of weeks either.

#3 How much Cap space do the Patriots have?
There's a forum member here by the name of Miguel that maintains what may be the best team salary cap site to be found anywhere on the internet. Right now the team is about $4 million under the cap.

#4 With 11 picks in the draft, how will the Patriots use them, I would guess they will package picks and move up!
It really all depends on how the draft unfolds. Belichick will have no problem with trading up or trading down depending on how late it appears that the player(s) he is targeting will be available. He also often trades a pick away for a better pick the following year.

What has the reaction been in Buffalo to TO?
The Bills seemed to fall apart after some injuries; have they adressed depth at those positions this off-season?
What's the latest with Jason Peters? Another holdout? Think he'll be traded?
What's the best place(s) for info and discussion on the Bills?

The reaction to T.O. has been huge, but its a 1 year deal and the guy is 35. Most of the fans see this as a draw card designed to sell tickets.
James Hardy is coming off surgery and T.O. is nothing more then a bridge.

Can we manage him, well who knows, you know T.O. the guy can be a time bomb!

Injuries? Buffalo's lack on depth and the inability to sign more veterans as backups! We seem to draft players then rely on them to step in, big mistake!

Here is a thread I wrote on Jason Peters this morning, it sums it up

THE MEDIA IS THE MAIN PROBLEM!

Jason Peters clearly said he will not sit out training camp in 2009 (Comments made on March 3rd)
Yet, several media sources claim this is the main reason why the Bills need to dump him because the media appears uninformed on that statement!

Several Media sources claim he is an unmotivated player, yet what do you expect from a player that feels seriously underpaid? I am not defending his actions, I do understand the problem.

The Media claims the Bills and Peters are miles apart in working out a new deal, yet last time I checked they were $2 million part, peanuts in today's market!

This entire issue is media driven, and the facts are distorted.

The Bills will let this play out, if some team is willing to over pay, then there might be a trade!

I think there is better then a 50/50 chance he will remain in Buffalo.

Until the media can get the facts straight, why bother talking about it. Its all garbage.

Jason Peters is a Buffalo Bill for 2 more years, and the Bills hold all the cards......period!

There are several great message boards in Buffalo but the Bills main board is probably the best, but its loaded with kids now days!
http://www.buffalobills.com/

But perhaps I can invite you to a more fan friendly board, if you are interested, I will PM you with a site!

I am an administrator on that board, and I will watch your back, we all have to deal with the kids from time to time (lol)

Thank you for a well constructed response!

I've seen you over on BBMB and Billievers.com

Nice to have you here, you know your stuff. I wouldn't consider you a troll.

I won't even bother answering the questions as I see some of the guys have already done that.

Best of luck to your Bills this season.

Again, welcome.

Thank you but I am cutting back on boards, I just don't have the time anymore.

I find this board interesting and I hope to post here from time to time
and have some fun...the board members here have been real good to me so far!

I don't believe I will have any trouble with the mods here.

I am not really that type of fan, I understand the fans here love their team, and I am only a guest here!

Probably won't post very much anyway, I need to brush up on the Patriots roster, and draft!

I hang out with some Patriots fans in Florida and we have a ball, I rag on them and they rag on me!

I boo when they walk through the door, and they boo when I leave!

They call me Buffalo and I call them Boston. "Hey Boston, if the Patriots lose, you're buying the beer!"

The last 5 years, I seem to be buying all the beer, and those guys can drink too!

We all go to Boomer's Sports bar in Port Charlotte, Florida on Sunday
