Damn that Mayock, he's brainwashed the entire State of New Mexico again. :enranged:

I liked Ayers before but Mayocks comments jus sold me on him but just like Barwin im skeptical about him at #23. #34 is great but im not sure I would reach on him if you would call it a reach at #23.

Ayers has talent, but the problem is that up until his senior season he had started only 2 games and was considered a huge under achiever by the UT coaching staff.

You have to have yourself, does he get it? Has the light come on and will it stay on?

I wonder if BB is interested in mayo's opinion of Ayers?

I like Ayers primarily as a possible SILB, and was one of the first to bring him up on this board. Mayock seems to have gone off the deep end a bit, but I think Ayers clearly offers the best combination of playing the run plus rushing the passer of any DE/LB prospect in this draft. I see him very much in the Adalius Thomas mold in terms of his versatility, minus Thomas' top end speed.

I'd be fine with Ayers at 34, but doubt he'll last. He could easily go before 23. If the FO were convinced he could be either a 3-4 OLB or an SILB, I'd be fine with him there. Next to the unmentionable one, he's my favorite DE/LB prospect in the draft.

We know NE took a hard look at him at the Senior Bowl and he's coming in for a visit. The question is did the area scout, or Pees and Co. watching Mayo on tape flag this kid last season for monitoring? If he didn't start, was he getting "starter's" equivalence in reps? We're guessing as to why he's on their visit list, but I do doubt Mayock is much of an influence on the NE process.

I've liked Ayers through the process of watching clips and researching and almost didn't put this up because of the Mayock comment, but meh. My goal was to produce *in my humble opinion* a realistic first 32. Curious as to what you guys think of the mock as a whole.

I've got a couple other things going on with discussing Maualuga and trying to keep the cat from helping me wth a late lunch, but I'll try and come back with some feedback in a bit.

This isn't meant to urinate on the mock, rather it is intended as a general question/criticism of Robert Ayers. Has anyone ever seen Robert Ayers use a spin move to get past a tackle? How about a club move or a swim?

I've seen a bit of of Tennessee over the past couple years and I can't recall ever thinking of Robert Ayers as a pass rusher. I have no idea where Mayock is getting the idea that Ayers will magically turn into one upon reaching the NFL.

Somebody, please set me straight here, because I just ain't seeing what is apparently obvious greatness in the making.

Excellent job overall. We could all say we would fit this player a little higher or lower but you have just about all the 1st rounders within 4 or 5 slots.

I did chuckle when I saw Cincy taking A. Smith instead of Oher. Sound like something that they would do.;)

Thanks Z, yeah the Raiders always interest me. The Bengals too, and not in a good way but more an unintentional comedy way.
