Do you relaize none of those three could excel at ILB in a 3-4 defense?

and exatley what evidence do you have to support this claim? How can you say Demeco Ryans wouldnt excel as a 3-4 WILB? Ray Lewis has played ILB in the 3-4 when the ravens use it from time to time. Bart Scott was signed to the Jets to Play Inside LB after comming from the same Defense. How can you just say that none of them can play ILB in a 3-4?

When Ray played in the 3-4, he was a Jag, and *****ed publically that the coach wasn't putting him in position to make plays. His quote was something like "my job isn't to take on guards, my job is to make tackles and big plays". He was such a non-factor that the Ravens switched back. Of course, that didn't stop the official scorer from crediting him with 22 tackles each game.

Ernie Sims is far to light to play ILB. In fact, he might be a strong safety for Belichick.

Ryans, I believe probably could play the Jack, and play it well.

I had hopes then that we would pick at #32 and that Curry would fly under the radar. Both hopes obviously changed quickly. By late September Curry was a probably 1st round pick, by early November he was a top 20 pick, and by December he was a top 10 pick.

I like Curry. There's little not to like. He has great size and speed, a great motor, good fundamentals, tremendous drive, and good instincts. He is solid against the run and the pass, and while not a pure pass rusher he can bring the heat.

With that in mind, having liked him when he was anonymous, I think he has gotten over-hyped. He may be the safest prospect in the draft, but his upside is less than some others. I'm not sure he a 3-4 OLB or what his best position would be in the Pats 3-4. And short of Lawrence Taylor, I'm not sure any LB is worth the #3 pick in the draft to this team.

Great post. What LB's do you think would be a solid pick for us?
thanks
