OT- Who you have Pioli/Chiefs grabbing at #3?

I think Pioli would like to trade down as we have their 2nd rounder. There may not be that offer and I don't see them trading with Denver to help them.
They are like the Jets and us in reagrd to each other.
They do need OL and WR but their defense is a joke so it points to a defensive player. IMO they should grab either Curry or Raji.
It may take a few years but Pioli should turn them around a bit but I can't wish him to much luck. Better them the the Bronco's who I can Never root for.

I think it will be very hard to trade out of the top 5, because of the money. Perhaps they can trade down 1 or 2 spots if someone wants a specific player. Their best bet is if Stafford goes #1 to Detroit and someone wants to move ahead of Seattle for Sanchez at #4. But it will be tough.

Assuming they stay at #3, I see either Curry or an OT being the pick. Crabtree might be a surprise option, but I doubt it. Mike Mayock recently projected Stafford #1, Jason Smith #2, and Monroe #3 in his top 10. That makes some sense. Monroe and Albert would make natural bookend tackles to protect Cassel.

The big problem I have with Aaron Curry at #3 is that it is an obscene amount of money to spend on a position other than QB, OL or DL. Plus, Curry is not a natural pass rusher. He is probably best as a 4-3 SLB, followed by a 3-4 SILB, and then as a 3-4 OLB. The first two are not natural money positions. Curry's the safest player in the draft, but I don't know if his upside and position warrant that kind of money. He would have to be another Lawrence Taylor to make it worthwhile.

Raji makes some sense, but with his drug test I can't see him going top 5. The other issue is that KC spent top 5 money on Glenn Dorsey last year, and that would be a ton of money to sink at that position. Even if Dorsey moves to 3-4 DE (which doesn't seem like a natural fit for him) it's a lot.

So I'm left with an OT or Curry.

They should go defense no matter how bad they they need a OL imo.

Well, I had them with Raji before this drug use broke. I guess Curry, with OTs going 1 & 2.

I think the Chiefs have already done some things to help their defense by drafting two good players last year. Dorsey and Flowers are two great players to build a defense around but with them moving to a 3-4 I think Raji or Curry are going to be the picks.

I think at No. 3 you want to make sure you are getting the BPA at a position of need. You can't afford to miss on the pick. Curry is considered the safest pick in the draft by many for whatever that is worth. (then again, so was Robert Gallery a few years ago).

IMO, I don't see this as a deal breaker for 3-4 teams who need an elite NT prospect.

I would take my chances moving Dorsey to DE if you could plug Raji next to him at the nose.

I think that's reasonable. Stafford/Jason Smith/Monroe/Sanchez/Curry seems like the most likely top 5 right now.

I think it will be hard for them to pass up on Curry they need as much help on defense as possible and who better to mentor him than Vrabes.

Personally, I don't think it would be difficult at all to pass on Curry if Pioli can get one of the top LT's for six years. LT's are almost always critical to the team. Curry is only as important only if he becomes an all-pro, and perhaps not even then. I think that the LT's provide far more value.

Dorsey would be just fine as a DE in a SD/Dallas 3-4. KC may or may not take a chance on Raji, they have a couple JAG veterans with enough size to work NT. They can help themselves by trading back and getting a stronger edge rush at OLB. Ev Brown makes the most sense, but they've been looking at Barwin and others.

If Stafford and Jason Smith go 1,2 respectively, i fully expect Curry to be the pick to bolster their OLB corps with Vrable. They already drafted what they hope to be their franchise LT in Albert last year, the only way I invision an OT taken here is if Curry is off the board at this point, which is a possibility.

OK I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the Chiefs take Michael Crabtree. Todd Haley knows first hand how dynamic an offense can be with TWO stud wideouts. So he takes Crabtree to pair with DBowe. Give Cassel a lot of weapons to work with.
