Cousins, it appears that last years first round draft pick of the Bears OT Chris Williams, may be not wanted.

"Orlando Pace will sign a three-year contract and will start at left tackle, meaning 2008 first-round pick Chris Williams will have to stave off recently signed veteran Kevin Shaffer to claim a starting job at right tackle."

Now he was injured but has since recovered. The Bears need to move up to get some added choices to come up with at least two new WR for "Jaywhine". Do we throw a second rounder to get Williams? They say he is not a natural RT but is he a LT for the future? Thoughts?

The biggest news on a player that would be perfect for the Pats is in AZ. SS Adrian Wilson is wanting a new contract. He is being put on the back burner because they have Dansby and Boldin to fight with, and Wilson has not showed up for voluntaries. His agent is "supposed" to get together with Graves but there is pessimism after not getting Dansby done for two years. Wilson is 29 and 6' 3" and 230 lbs. He ran a 4.48 in the combine and is a respected leader on that defense. He is a hitter in the Harrison, Lynch mold. He is smart and well respected. Some AZ fans think they should trade him for value now.

Now I will be ridiculed for this but so-be-it. The Cards need an RB and a TE. Technically our top RB is Maroney. I say swap him and Dave Thomas to the Cards for Wilson (with Sanders too? Although they have a good young safety in Francisco). With Sanders, a choice would have to come back.

Think of the possibilities?
Opinions? These are two players that realistically could be dealt.

If the Pats have any chance of getting Adrian Wilson, they should do so in a heartbeat. I think they could do it with draft picks and keep Sanders which would be my choice.

Not sure what the price tag would be though. That would be the most limiting factor. The Pats have more than enough to offer.

For once an interesting not off the charts impossible speculation on a vet. I'd trade a high pick for Wilson for two reasons. First he's a proven, talented, hard hiting established vet who could upgrade a key position.

What about Jason Taylor and Julius Peppers? Has anyone mentioned them?

Kevin Shaffer sucks. The Bears aren't likely to trade Williams.

The Cardinals would be the dumbest team on the face of the planet to trade Wilson for Maroney/Thomas.

And for the 1,000,000,000th time, Maroney isn't going anywhere.

Adrian Wilson fan here.

Even Pat Tillman R.I.P. knew that he was going to be dethrowned at SS by Wilson.

I say offer a 3rd for Wilson. I'd say more, but he'll want big bucks to go along with any trade.

I'd love Wilson in a Pats uniform. He's big, physical, has decent cover skills, and tackles extremely well. Honestly, he reminds me of a younger, more athletic Rodney Harrison, though I doubt he has Rodney's intelligence and heart. All this may be moot, however, because I don't know if we could afford him and still go after JT or JP, however farfetched thos possibilities seem at the moment.

Nah, he has all of the heart that you need for a SS...

Why is it every time a rumor of a discontented player surfaces DW tries to trade Maroney and or a TE for it?? And now he wants to throw in the SS he hates that BB just re-signed so we can take a $2.25M cap hit in addition to Wilson's $4.75M salary. LOL

I'd guess because with DW it's less about acquiring needed talent than finding any scenario under which the team rids itself of players he dislikes...

Cousin. To get Wilson, trades of draft picks are just fine. I am talking about trading two players that might have the least need in 2009 on our roster. Call it wampum if you will. You fill in tradeable players if mine upset you so much. It's conversation.

The CAP hit is $750k on Maroney and yes there is a hit. Miguel told me that and so did BOR so I had been corrected once before. Why I said JS was in case the Cards needed an SS back. Cousin, It's just a scenario. Who do you offer, Tank?

It was just a thought. But there is evidence that there could be an opportunity.

Wait....You are telling me that if we could get Wilson and Sanders had to be part of the trade, you would say it was a bad idea?

Please Cousin, read what I said. I did not say JS had to go. Throw in? No...In fact I said picks back if he went to AZ.

Lets get this straight. I do not hate James Sanders. I think he is upgradeable and lets leave it like that. I have stated he was probably smart and a good fill in. Don't worry about my opinion or those who agree with me who are many. If he starts this year and plays well I will be relieved and you can call me out. None of us are the GM. I know slim and little. More than some and less than others. I am not trying to pick a tiff here with anyone. "Your tone is all wrong" -Christopher Walken-Joe Dirt

You know... it would be awesome to find out years later after BB retires that he was an active and smarmy member of patsfans.com. I'd be combing through thousands of pages trying to read every comment he wrote, especially in response to wacky trade proposals.

Not that I'm expecting that....
