Nice job Bakes - though I'm shocked by your English pick in the 1st. :D

Obviously by this point most of our clear preferences have come out. I prefer Barwin to English at 23, but English is a fine player. I love Delmas and Wood. Based on the response I've had to Delmas in my mocks many will question him at #34, but I'm not one of them. I think I would prefer Andre Brown to Shonn Greene as a big RB because of his superior pass-catching ability out of the backfield (which is why I prefer Donald Brown to both, but he is gone).

A couple of comments on specific picks:

1. I think that with the Cutler situation resolved, Detroit will move more aggressively towards signing the #1 pick. If they are smart they will do something like what Miami did and open talks with several candidates. I think Stafford is their #1 option, but they could open talks with Sanchez, Jason Smith, Eugene Monroe, and even Aaron Curry as well. I think money will be a factor in their decision making. I think that they will give Stafford the option of being the #1 pick and getting #1 money, but if he tries to get ridiculous $$ they will go the OT route or go with Sanchez.

2. From what I hear Seattle prefers Sanchez to Stafford. He seems like more of a fit for their version of the WCO.

3. I don't see Sanchez lasting to SF at #10, and I don't see SF going QB in round 1.

4. #11 seems a bit high for Tyson Jackson and he doesn't seem to be the kind of pass-rushing DE that Buffalo needs. If he is going to go that high then #12 to Denver seems more likely.

5. Chris Wells falling to #28 seems a bit far. From what I hear, he is on the rise. Cincy, Denver and New Orleans are all said the be interested in him.

6. Aaron Maybin falling to #42, Connor Barwin to 44, and Hakeem Nicks to 45 all seem unlikely right now. All 3 seem to be rising. I personally see Baltimore taking a receiver like Nicks more than a Harvin-type player.

Again, nice job.

7. Rashad Johnson at #46 seems high to me. JMHO.

OLB - Larry English
S - Louis Delmas
C/G - Eric Wood
RB - Shonn Greene

It will be hard to be unhappy after day 1 and we have 7 other picks to play around with too :)

I still expect a few of those picks to be traded away though

I freely admit when I got to #58 I was stuck on several options. I refused to take a TE! lol

I don't like this at all. I'm fine with English and Wood. I would never pick Delmas at 34, especially with Gilbert, Sintim and Britton all there. There is plenty of time for a SS at 58 (say for Vaughn) or with a tradup for another of the safeties.

4. #11 seems a bit high for Tyson Jackson and he doesn't seem to be the kind of pass-rushing DE that Buffalo needs. If he is going to go that high then #12 to Denver seems more likely.

I don't think it's high at all, but I do realize I made the goof up of having Buffalo take 2 DEs. lol So I'll probably switch that to Andre Smith and bump him down 1 to Denver. Thus moving Ayers down a peg to Philly most likely.

5. Chris Wells falling to #28 seems a bit far. From what I hear, he is on the rise. Cincy, Denver and New Orleans are all said the be interested in him.

He certainly could go high, but if he doesn't then it will likely be a big slide cuz there's just not a lot teams who need a RB.

6. Aaron Maybin falling to #42, Connor Barwin to 44, and Hakeem Nicks to 45 all seem unlikely right now. All 3 seem to be rising. I personally see Baltimore taking a receiver like Nicks more than a Harvin-type player.

I believe Maybin is a better fit for 4-3 teams and with so many switching to 3-4 I think that will hurt his value. As you know I believe Barwin is a project and projects don't get round 1 value in my book. Nicks stock has taken a hit from his weight gain and with 0 WRs taken a year ago I can't see more than 4 going in round 1 this year.

7. Rashad Johnson at #46 seems high to me. JMHO.

You're right I kinda put him in late and mistakenly left out Sean Smith, so I'll probably plug him there with v2. ;)

Do you likr Britton for the Pats zone blocking scheme?

Ask Reiss: A little of everything - Boston.com
Now that the Broncos also have pick 18 in the draft instead of the Bears, how might this affect who we can land in the draft? In many mock drafts, people had Larry English going 18. Is that still possible?
Morris

A: Morris, it's not a major thing, but I think it puts a team in front of the Patriots that probably has a similar draft board. I asked a scouting director about English, and his feeling was that the low 20s would be too rich to select English for his own team (he thought the 30s was more likely). How that translates to the Patriots, I'm not sure.
:confused2:

That's obviously a smokescreen! :p Smells of Tuna if ya ask me!
