Just wanted to post an update based on google news searches. Unfortunately my laptop crashed and my iPhone does not allow me to copy urls.

Well I just clicked the link about draft pick forfeitures and was led to a wikipedia entry for April Fools day. LOL. I really got had on that one. Well, mods can merge the rest of this thread if they want, as that was the juicy part, and a good hoax.

2. According to Don Banks yesterday, there is a 70% chance Taylor ends up in New England.

3. The "insider" that posted the rumor about JT signing with the Pats has posted numerous times on the dolphins forum has never previously posted inside information. Two days ago there was also a rumor tha Taylor was completing a deal with the Pats.

4. Robert Kraft reiterated today that Jason Taylor will be a Patriot if he wants to be.

the redskins cut taylor. Why would they receive any compensation?

1. The most breaking news, posted ok phinphanatic.com is titled "Signing Jason Taylor will cost Phins Second Round Pick." Under the author's interpretation, the commissioner will likely seem Taylor's t one year bolt and reunion and return the second round compensation to the Redskins. If this is true it is really good news for the Pats and severely weakens Parcells' interest in Taylor..
This isn't breaking news. It is cutting edge ignorance of the NFL.

Taylor didn't bolt. The Redskins cut him.

The Skins got the services of Taylor and then they cut him. They Skins get nothing.

Does the name Doug Gabriel mean anything to you?

I feel totally ignorant - what Dolphin forum had the rumor of him signing here ? That's the first I've heard of that.

There's a post on rotoworld quoting channing crowder saying he's been fishing with Taylor and would love him back. The guy from rotoworld said taylors hinted he doesn't wanna play in ne.

I really don't care if be comes here or not I'd rather have a young rookie over him.

MORE ON JASON TAYLOR: Jason Taylor said he was flattered to hear comments from Patriots owner Robert Kraft that it was up to Taylor himself if he wanted to play for New England. But according to one of Taylor's former teammates, Taylor's heart remains in South Florida. "I went fishing with J.T. two weeks ago; he wants to be a Dolphin," linebacker Channing Crowder told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Taylor may want to be a Dolphin but . . .

The National Football Post | Diner Morning News: Cutler Watch Day 2

"The problem Jason Taylor is having finding work at his price is his tape from last year. He did not play at a high level, even before he was injured, and there clearly a “buyer beware” sign hanging around his neck. My sources at the Fins say they don’t seem to be excited about bringing Taylor back at any price."

Channing Crowder seems to think Taylor wants to return to Miami:

Granted I don't believe any unsubstatiated rumor or what two players say to each other over some beers and fishing until I actually see some proof that things are progressing in that direction. My guess is that Taylor will play both teams off each other to get the best deal.

Which means he likely won't be a Patriot, imo.

Not neccessarily. Both Belichick and Parcells have similiar philosophies. It isn't like Parcells is going to pull a Daniel Snyder and grossly overpay for Taylor. He is potentially in a bidding war between two teams that are not going to open their wallets too wide. Creating a bidding war may get him a few extra $100k, but neither team is going to go crazy.

Little nugget in Lombardi's article today, very relevant:

I think Taylor would love to stay in South Florida with his family.
That seems to be the most important thing to him.
It may even be more important than playing ball this year.
I'm not so sure even if Taylor and PATs could come to an agreement that
it would be the best thing for the PATs.

The only way I'd take Taylor is to know that getting a RING is the most
important thing to him at this point in his career even if it meant working
1500 miles away from home.
I have not heard him say anything along those lines.

So maybe Taylor is trying to manufacture interest from the Dolphins to try to motivate the Pats to work on a deal for him.

The simple fact is that Taylor wants to be near his kids. The Miami

Dolphins are closer to Miami than the Patriots unless my geography

is wrong.

At this point of his career you're probably right. At first, I didn't care much one way or the other--I could take Taylor, or I could take a young beastly OLB from the draft, didn't really matter to me. But if that means he'd go to Miami, and improve a close foe from our division, then I'm all over him coming here now. I hope our front office gets it done somehow.

Every time I read JT rumors I keep thinking... Taylor was a core member of all those Fins teams in the early 2000s that got humiliated by the Patriots, even in years when the Fins had the better team on paper. The Pats drove Ricky back to smoking the doobage, and Zach Thomas was so bitter that when we entered UFA the Pats were on the list of teams that he wanted nothing to do with. Taylor is tight with Thomas, and I think shares the same point of view.

Given his choice, I dont think that he would choose the Pats under any circumstance except maybe if the alternative is unemployment. He hates this franchise.

I would love to have JT join the Pats, but I also recognize that we will be more than fine without his services. It would bother me, however, if he rejoined the Phins. I wouldn't mind so much if he joins another team, but not in our division, please....
