Herman Edwards would be flying to wherever Cutler is, begging to see him and apologizing to him. All would be wonderful, and Cutler would go on to a thoroughly disappointing career in Denver with nice numbers, some accoladates, no rings and a rep as one of those 'great QBs who never won the big one'
Josh McDaniel is doing what he was trained to do.
One of the most memorable quotes I have ever heard from BB was in a SB pregame interview with Jimmy Johnson. Paraphrasing, he said, we want guys to improve. some guys say i am what i am love me or get rid of me, and we think they need to leave.

McDaniel clearly feels Cutler is not Tom Brady 2.0. McDaniel, unable to get Cassel, views a big part of his job as coaching up Cutler. He sees Cutler IMO as a guy who amassed #s while losing, which is far from the BB trained criteria he believes in. This is much like Bledsoe when BB arrived.
So now you take over the team (a big chunk of this is educated guessing) see the opportunity to upgrade your QB.
Part of the reason you want to upgrade is above the shoulders, including an ego and poor judgment about what he says publicly (better arm than Elway the stupid spatting with Rivers in the press, etc) so when word comes out that you were looking at a trade, he basiclly says
1) I am offended about that
2) Who are you to trade me? I am the franchise
3) If you don't think I'm the greatest trade me, but if you keep me you better promise me I will never be traded.
To which Josh McD said
1) Get over it, and figure out how to be a better QB
2) I run the show here. You need to prove yourself to me and your losing record and immature behavior isnt helping. I think I can make you a winner, but you need to get on board and do what I, your boss, tells you.
3) Everyone is subject to being traded, and if you don't improve and i dont think I can win with you, it will happen.


In essence, Cutler in his immaturity, decided the first thing to do was challenge the authority of a rookie HC. Not any rookie HC but one who has Tom Brady as the standard. Tom Brady is irreplacable (and McDaniel even showed he could compete without him) who is this moron with a losing record who wants to be treated like Tom Brady without working, learning, and winning like Tom Brady?
If McDaniels backed down from this challenge, he absolutely loses this team and is fired within 2 years. If Cutler is forced to come back, he comes back on McDs terms, and McD keeps his authority. If Cutler is traded, McD finds another QB to win with.

I would bet a lot of money on the following statement:

If Cutler is traded, Josh McDaniel and the Broncos will win more games in the next 3 years than whatever team Cutler is traded to, and if Cutler is traded from Denver, Cutler will never win a SB.

I agree - I still think that Josh's view on Cutler comes from Bill and the preperation from the game last year. I think Bill thought he could be exposed and they went about haning 40 on 'em............without Tom Brady............on a Monday night.

I agree. The way McDaniels is handling the Cutler thing is not much different than Belichick handled Terry Glenn, Deion Branch, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, etc. People criticized Belichick's handling of most of these situations. For the most part, Belichick ended up proving his critics wrong.

I think this whole situation has shown that Cutler is not the guy you want QBing your team. I feel the guy is overrated anyway and if you look beyond his yards last year, he isn't all that special. He had a great September that hid the fact that he wasn't nearly as spectacular the rest of the season. He needed to step up and play great in one of the final games three games of the season to guarantee the Broncos get into the playoffs and didn't. He was second in the league in INTs. Now add the fact that he is showing his immature premadonna side, he just ain't worth the hassle.

Almost anywhere else I would root for Josh, but now that he's with Denver, it's a win-win situation for me who absolutely despises that team. Ultimately, I hope Cutler stays and McDaniels gets fired and then goes somewhere else to succeed.

The more I read on this Cutler situation, I feel JMcD has shown what JC really is.

JC is thinking he knows more than JMcD, as he is a rookie head coach. But JMcD has learnt from one of, if not the best, coach of all time.

JC obviously isn't the sharpest pencil in the box, and I truly hope that where ever he goes, he fails! (unless he randomly comes to us). So JMcD can sit back, smile and laugh, while JC stumbles at every hurdle!

I believe McDaniels did handle the situation appropriately, but I also believe Denver will use him for a year or two until it can pursue a Cowher or Holmgren after it clears Shanahan's salary. The problem with this situation for McDaniels is he is not a Belichick, thus cannot point to a track record of success in giving the "my way or the highway" speech. That may well cause ownership to say a Shanahan, Parcells or Cowher would not have been given the treatment Cutler gave McDaniels, because positive history brings credibility and players know they stand to lose a great deal going head to head with a top coach. I fear if McDaniels does not have a playoff season his first year, he may not be wearing puke orange for very long.

i mean really, why not? and lol, since cutler is considered the better QB, KC should not get anything extra out of it, if anything, they should give up more picks

that way denver gets cassel for cutler + a pick and KC gets cutler for a 2nd rounder while losing another pick

If you believe Peter King Cutler and the agent were upset when McD was hired BEFORE the Cassell talk. Cutler also wants a new contract.

I have heard a lot of pundits including guys I like say JC is a 'franchise' QB.

IMO this is crap. Around here we know from Franchise QB's. If a new coach who is was an OC was coming in where do you think Brady would be when the guy hit the team complex? Would they be at home sulking? No they would be at the complex BEFORE the coach arrived, would meet the guy at the door and say, OK whne to we hit the tape room so I can learn the O? and How are we going to win the SB?

That is what a Franchise QB does, Culter is Jeff George with a Southern accent.

Other than talking to the press about it you mean. JM should have just shut up and said the 'I will do what's in the best interest of the team' line and he would have been better off

Can't really disagree.

The ONLY thing that hurt McD is he really doesn't have the track record of BB, so like someone else said, his "my way or the highway" act is a little tougher to set.

But BB had not rack record worth a **** when he ran Glenn out of town, but he set the example. Maybe it'll be just the same for McDaniels? Hopefully he can get fired and go to an NFC team so we can root for him Sorry, I'd never root for the Broncos if Brady played for them.

What I find funny is that other teams pluck coaches from the Patriot tree and then complain when they try to do things the "Patriot way".
